The official website for rock band hitorie has announced sad news on Monday that the band’s vocalist-guitarist wowaka passed away last Friday, on April 5 due to heart failure during his sleep. The funeral services for wowaka will be held in private.
The recent tour announced by band hitorie has been canceled and other events will also be suspended. Information regarding refunds for tickets will be announced tomorrow. The band’s remaining three members will continue to make music.
wowaka began his musical career in May 2009, by uploading his original Vocaloid music titled “In the Gray Zone.” to the Japanese video-sharing website Niconico Douga. He became known under the name “Genjitsu Touhi P” after writing in music descriptions the phrase “sometimes it’s good to escape from reality.”
In 2011, he joined the band “hitorie” as the lead vocalist and guitarist. The band released four singles and four studio albums, as well as three mini-albums. The band performed the opening theme song for the Divine Gate anime series and performed the seventh ending theme song for the Boruto: Naruto Next Generations anime.
He also wrote and composed the “And I’m Home” song for Mahou Shoujo Madoka Magica, which featured as the ending song in the anime’s ninth episode. He also founded the Ballroom record label for Vocaloid producers.
hitorie returned to produce another Vocaloid song titled “Unknown Mother Goose” in 2017.
