Higehiro Anime Key Visual 01

Higehiro: After Being Rejected, I Shaved and Took in a High School Runaway (Hige wo Soru. Soshite Joshi Kousei o Hirou hereafter referred to as Higehiro) is a series that I’ve been curious about ever since it was first announced a few months ago. It didn’t get nearly as much attention in the mainstream anime press as some other series that are set to premiere this spring, but it still has just enough of a unique premise that I’m very interested in checking this one out. The new promotional video released on Thursday, February 25th, doesn’t hurt that at all.

The promotional video confirms the cast and crew, with the primary cast being filled by (character names first):

Yoshida: Kazuyuki Okitsu

Sayu Ogiwara: Kana Ichinose

Airi Goto: Hisako Kanemoto

Yuzuha Mishima: Kaori Ishihara

Hashimoto: Yusuke Kobayashi

Asami Yuki: Natsumi Kawaida

The animation will be produced by the studio project No. 9, with Manabu Kamikita serving as the director. Deko Akao will write the series scripts, which is great news as they have previous experience with romance series including Snow White with the Red Hair and If My Favorite Pop Idol Made it to the Budokan, I Would Die. Character designs are being provided by Takayuki Noguchi.

Originally a light novel series written by Shimesaba and illustrated by booota, the series first launched on the Kakuyomu website before getting picked up by Kadokawa Shoten. As of August 2020, there are four collected volumes in print. A manga adaptation has been running in Monthly Shonen Ace since November 2018 and has been collected in three volumes as of May 2020.

As stated in the introduction, I’ve been looked forward to checking this one out for months and I’m very glad to see it finally get a premiere date of April 5th.
