Hell Girl Live Action Movie Delivers A Punishing New Trailer

The live-action Hell Girl movie is set to open in Japan on November 15th. To get people excited for what’s certain to be a scary good time, a brand new 98-second trailer has been uploaded to the web which gives fans of the franchise a peek into the frights that await them.

If you’re not familiar with the history of this series, allow me to get you caught up.

First airing in 2005 as a 26-episode anime produced by Studio DEEN, this horror series stars a mysterious girl named Ai Enma who runs a very special website. Accessible only at the stroke of midnight, the website appears with a text box that allows the user to enter the name of the person that they seek vengeance on. After entering the name, Ai will appear before them and ask if they truly wish to send the person to Hell to suffer for all eternity. Sadly though, this curse comes with a price as the person who seeks revenge will also be sent to Hell upon their death.

Over the course of four seasons (the most recent of which aired in July 2017), Ai Enma sends dozens of people to Hell. Sometimes the reasons are completely justified and other times the reasons are downright petty, but her job is not to pass judgment, merely to deliver punishment to those who have wronged another.

The new movie will star Tina Tamashiro as Ai Enma and feature the following as supporting cast members:

Hone Onna: Manami Hashimoto
Ren Ichimoku: Raiku
Wanyudo: Akaji Maro

The movie is being directed and written by Koji Shiraishi who has a very long history within the Japanese horror industry.

Judging by the Hell Girl trailer, it appears that Ai Enma will be delivering punishment to multiple people throughout this movie. Here’s to hoping that it eventually gets a worldwide release so that horror fans across the oceans can enjoy it as well!
