Gintama fans can get excited now, there will be more anime on the way. The light novel 3rd Year Class Z Ginpachi-sensei (3-nen Z-gumi Ginpachi-sensei) is being adapted to anime by Bandai Namco Pictures. The brief trailer we were given has all the references (hello Spy X Family-version of Gintama), and Gintoki is apparently both a teacher and student, and he gives himself the bucket punishment.
There’s no release date announced so far, so we’ll need to make do with this funny trailer that just raises more questions than it answers. It’s also unclear whether this is a movie or anime series.
The production team seems to be using the Gintama movie Gintama The Final official Twitter page to promote this adaptation. They released what seems to be a screenshot as their first take at a key visual.
Their announcement tweet tells us that 3rd Year Class Z Ginpachi-sensei is part of their “Gintama 20th anniversary project.” Some fans might be scratching their head, considering that the manga began its publishing run on December 8th, 2003, a little over nineteen years ago, and the anime adaptation premiered on April 4th, 2006, sixteen years ago. We can only conclude that their 20th-anniversary celebrations will be going on for a long time.
Back to School, Yorozuya Gin-chan!
3rd Year Class Z Ginpachi-sensei continues the famed Gintama humor, as the entire cast is back in school, with the often silly Ginpachi-sensei as their homeroom teacher at Gintama High School. It’s a comedic series that deals with field trips, consultation rooms, delinquents, and even Ginpachi-sensei dealing with his students stealing the spotlight.
3rd Year Class Z Ginpachi-sensei Origins

The main Gintama series was written and illustrated by Hideaki Sorachi. Shueisha published the wacky series from December 8th, 2003 to June 20th, 2019. It has seen numerous adaptations, from anime to video games, light novels and CDs, and even live-action movies.
If you’re looking for another hyper-skilled samurai from a series that can be silly at times, might I suggest this Mugen Nendoroid Figure from Samurai Champloo? While not looking for the sunflower samurai, they go on eating competitions where Fuu magically gets super big, then magically slims right down like nothing happened.
