A boy and girl pledge to share a lifelong friendship. They forgo any romantic intention and decide to be the best of friends. However, after the boy’s first crush reappeared, his “lifelong friend” began to harbor feelings for him. We’ll see how these two reconcile their relationship when Danjo no Yujo wa Seiritsu Suru? (Iya, Shinai!!) (Can a Boy–Girl Friendship Hold Up? (No, It Can’t!!)) premieres sometime in April 2025.
Nana Nanana and Parum released the original Danjo no Yujo wa Seiritsu Suru? (Iya, Shinai!!) light novel on January 9th, 2021. ASCII Media Works has since published ten volumes in the Dengeki Bunko imprint.
The three star-crossed lovers are as follows:
- Yu Natsume — Kikunosuke Toya (Denji from Chainsaw Man). A student with an affinity for flowers. He is Himari’s good friend.
- Himari Inuzuka — Sayumi Suzushiro (Nijika Ijichi from Bocchi the Rock!). Yu’s friend and a fellow gardening club member.
- Rion Enomoto — Yuka Nukui (Taromaru Seike from A Certain Scientific Railgun T). Yu’s childhood friend and his first crush.

Friends Become Closer in Danjo no Yujo wa Seiritsu Suru? (Iya, Shinai!!)
Yu Natsume had it rough selling his flower accessories at a school cultural festival. He made a deal with his parents that if he sold all of the accessories, then he could work to open a flower shop rather than become a government employee. The school idol saw his trouble and came to his rescue. Himari Inuzuka used her natural charisma and connections to sell every single accessory. Yu won the bet, plus a new friend.
Their friendship remained just as strong two years after they met. Himari kept one of his flower accessories and continues to wear it to this day, and she’s more affectionate toward him. Yu continues to make dazzling flower accessories that Himari enjoys watching. In fact, she advertises his work on her popular Instagram account. Their cozy days of Himari trying to get Yu to marry her and promises of “if you’re not married by 30, I’ll take care of you” end after Yu’s childhood crush reappears.
