Warning: This article contains spoilers for later episodes of the anime series Assassination Classroom. Caution is being exercised to not reveal too much but you’ve been warned.
Assassination Classroom is my all-time favorite series because of its amazing characters and very shonen-y fight scenes between those same amazing characters. Luckily for me, there are others out there who feel the same way and are going out of their way to show their love for this series.
Recently, the guys behind the YouTube channel Re: Anime took the time to create a live-action recreation of a pivotal fight scene between two of the main characters from the series, Karma Akabane (red hair) and Nagisa Shiota (blue hair) which takes place near the end of the series. Let me set the stage for you… at this point, the students in class 3-E are divided. Yes, their biologically engineered life form of a teacher has threatened to blow up the Earth and has revealed that no matter what happens, he’s destined to explode and take the world with him. That isn’t stopping a handful of the students in E Class from taking it upon themselves to try to save him. Unfortunately, not everyone sees it that way, and it’s decided that a “winner takes all” game of Capture the Flag will be played between the two opposing sides. In the end, though, it all comes down to Nagisa and Karma defending their points of view in a drag-out fight. Who comes out on top? You’ll have to watch to see for yourself.
Featuring Brandon Soohoo as Karma and Jackie Tran as Nagisa, with fight choreography by Yoshi Sudarso, this is one of the best fan films that I’ve ever personally witnessed.
If you’ve never checked out the anime adaptation of Assassination Classroom or read the original manga, I highly urge you to do so because, let’s face it, how are you going to watch something like this and not be jazzed up to watch the rest?
