Dr. STONE is one of the latest Shonen Jump adaptations to take the anime world by storm. The inventive story is about crude boy-genius Senku, the Japanese Jimmy Neutron, bringing humanity back into modern civilization after a cataclysmic event turns the entire world to stone for thousands of years. It’s a thrilling series with gorgeous art and fantastic music. It had a great opening song titled “Good Morning World!” by BURNOUT SYNDROMES, and an equally memorable ending song in the form of Rude-α’s recording “Life.” Now, we have two more awesome tracks to look forward to when Dr. STONE enters its 2nd cour.
According to the official Dr. STONE website, which hosts all the latest info for the anime adaptation of the hit sci-fi adventure manga, the brand new OP theme song for the anime, titled “Sangenshoku” (Three Primary Colors), will be performed by PELICAN FANCLUB. They’re a three-member rock band that will be performing the first anime theme song of their career. Anri Endoh handles vocals and guitar, while Shimizu plays drums, and Ryoutatsu Kamiyama is on bass. They came together back in 2012, spending a long time putting out singles and albums by themselves as an indie group. It wasn’t until November 2018 that they signed with Sony Music Labels’ Ki/oon Music and released an eight-song debut mini-album titled “Boys just want to be culture.”
When asked to provide a comment about their theme song for Dr. STONE, Anri Endoh said the following:
“Making things is common to both of I and Senku. By reading manga and making poetry, I was able to write lyrics like a compound with mixed type elements. Like another color can be made by mixing colors, like a word has a meaning by mixing words, it will become a song only for you by mixing this anime and the thoughts of its viewers. We hope you enjoy the new OP song made by us while Senku creates various things by science.”
The new ED song is going to be performed by someone who might be a bit more recognizable to anime fans. Yusuke Saeki previously performed theme songs for the Yowamusi Pedal series, with his first-ever single used as the ED theme for the third season. He’s also done songs for Mr. Osomatsu and Black Clover. Now, he’ll be performing “Yume no Yō na” (Like a Dream), the new ED song for Dr. Stone.
Dr. Stone is a Japanese manga series written by Riichiro Inagaki and illustrated by Boichi. It has been serialized in Weekly Shōnen Jump since March 6th, 2017. As of April 2019, Shueisha has compiled the individual chapters into ten published volumes. It wasn’t until January 2019 that the series got an official English localization and release via Viz Media. The company has licensed the manga in North America, and has also collaborated with Shueisha to publish the series in English on the website and app Manga Plus. In July, 2019, the anime adaptation by TMS Entertainment premiered.
Viz Media describes the story of the sci-fi adventure:
One fateful day, all of humanity was petrified by a blinding flash of light. After several millennia, high schooler Taiju awakens and finds himself lost in a world of statues. However, he’s not alone! His science-loving friend Senku’s been up and running for a few months and he’s got a grand plan in mind — to kickstart civilization with the power of science!
