A young girl dreams of becoming a great wizard. She works hard to enter the Letran Magic and Magecraft School, which trains wizards. Though she earned high test scores, she might not get into her desired class, jeopardizing her dream. We’ll see how she handles the news when Maho Tsukai ni Narenakatta Onna no Ko no Hanashi (The Story of the Girl Who Couldn’t Become a Wizard) premieres on October 4th, 2024.
Yuzuki Akasaka wrote the original Maho Tsukai ni Narenakatta Onna no Ko no Hanashi novel between March 2018 and September 2019. Everystar published the series on its website.
Two magicians-in-training and their teacher are as follows:
- Kurumi Mirai — Hana Hishikawa (Aki Sizuha from Touhou Danmaku Kagura). A girl who dreams of becoming a wizard. She doesn’t get into the class she needs to achieve her dream.
- Yuzu Edel — Misuzu Yamada (Koushi Nagumo from Mother of the Goddess’ Dormitory). An heir to a prestigious magical family. Like Kurumi, she entered a general class.
- Minami Suzuki — Yui Horie (Mamiya from Kantai Collection). A powerful magic user and the homeroom teacher in the general course.

Many people long to become great wizards. The best place to do that is an institution that trains the best wizards of the International Mage Alliance, the Letran Magic and Magecraft School. Kurumi Mirai dreams of joining their ranks. She practiced extremely hard for many years and eventually attained the top test scores when entering the school. However, her scores didn’t place her in the coveted Magic Group course. Instead, the school put her into the general course.
Yuzu Edel comes from a long line of great wizards. She works hard to uphold her family legacy and stand among the best. Despite her perfectionist work style, the school sent her to the general course. These two girls must work harder than ever to attain their goals. Fortunately for them, their homeroom teacher is also an incredible wizard with a cute frog familiar.
