Demon Slayer Movie Sells One Million Copies in Three Days!

Oh look, another article about Demon Slayer -Kimetsu no Yaiba- The Movie: Mugen Train setting another record!

So you thought that with all the box office records that Demon Slayer: Mugen Train had broken that there were no more mountains for this series to climb? You would be wrong because, with the release of the movie on home video, the movie now has brand new sales records to beat, and they wasted no time at all in doing exactly that!

According to sales reports, the movie managed to set two high-water marks this week in Japan: highest first-week sales for the year so far (achieved in only one day) and selling one million copies in only three days.

Demon Slayer started as a Weekly Shonen Jump manga, which ran from 2016 until May 2020. In 2019, it was adapted into a two cour anime series and has been a massive hit with most fans ever since. With brilliant-looking animation from ufotable, the series starts with a young man named Tanjiro who comes home one day to discover that demons have slaughtered his family. The only survivor is his sister and thus begins his quest to kill demons and discover a way to turn his sister back into a human.

Demon Slayer: Mugen Train is a direct sequel to the television series and has been setting box office records around the world ever since it was first released in Japan on October 16th, 2020. Not only did it spend numerous weeks as the number one movie in Japan, but at one point it was even the number one movie in the entire world.

Funimation has revealed their plans to stream the movie on their service starting June 22nd, just in case you missed out on seeing it in the theaters or because you just didn’t want to be around people yet.
