Crunchyroll announced its new theater plan at San Diego Comic-Con. Otaku have an excuse to make monthly theater excursions to watch anime movies on the silver screen. Crunchyroll Anime Nights brings the newest and most popular anime movies to select theater chains, including Alamo Drafthouse, AMC Theatres, Regal, Cinemark Theatres, Harkins Theatres, and Landmark Cinemas. These special events will take place on the third Monday of the month.
Additional details, such as ticket prices or special swag, are not currently available. I’m not saying there’s any special swag, but our comrades in Japan get special stuff when they go to the movies. I would like Crunchyroll to put in the effort to get us something cool, too.
Crunchyroll has announced its current Crunchyroll Anime Nights schedule between October and December. Cultured otaku can enjoy Miss Kobayashi’s Dragon Maid, Overlord, and a sneak peek at Crunchyroll’s upcoming anime roster.
Miss Kobayashi’s Dragon Maid: A Lonely Dragon Wants to Be Loved
Premiere Date: October 20th, 2025
“I don’t want to let go of your hand. Because we’re family now.” That’s this movie’s tagline. Kanna Kamui has never had a good relationship with her father, Kimun Kamui. She yearned for his love and affection, but he only wanted to treat her like a comrade. He had no interest in being a father. Kanna’s attempts to gain his attention led her to play a “prank” wherein she destroyed a significant artifact. Kimun abandoned her in a field and severed all ties with her.
OVERLORD — A Celebration of the Anime’s 10th Anniversary
Premiere Date: November 17th, 2025
This is a deep dive into the dark world of Overlord. Momonga is a typical salaryman and a legendary player for an MMORPG. He logs into his favorite game as the servers shut down, ending his twelve-year adventure. Though the clock strikes midnight, his dark fairy tale is just beginning. He’s stuck in the game with all of his legendary equipment and an army at his beck and call.
