The Kamen Rider W anime launches a “Rider Kick” in theaters! Fuuto PI: Portrait of Kamen Rider Skull (Fuuto Tantei: Kamen Rider Skull no Shozo) adapts the Begins Night case. This event turns the private detective Sokichi Narumi into a hero. We’ll see his first transformation when this movie hits theaters on November 8th, 2024.
Toei aired the original Kamen Rider W live-action series from September 6th, 2009, to August 29th, 2010. The sequel manga series Fuuto Tantei by Riku Sanjo and Masaki Sato first debuted on August 7th, 2017. Shogakukan has published twelve volumes in Weekly Big Comic Spirits since then. Studio Kai’s anime adaptation of Fuuto PI premiered on August 1st, 2022.
Three of our Kamen Riders are as follows:
- Sokichi Narumi / Kamen Rider Skull — Kenjiro Tsuda (Kento Nanami from Jujutsu Kaisen). Sokichi embodies the ideal private detective. He takes Shotaro on as his apprentice.
- Shotaro Hidari / Kamen Rider W’s Joker — Yoshimasa Hosoya (Wataru from Pokémon Generations). Shotaro strives to uphold Sokichi’s ideals as a detective. He faces terrible threats as one-half of Kamen Rider W.
- Phillip / Kamen Rider W’s Cyclone — Koki Uchiyama (Taiki Himekawa from Oshi no Ko). Philip is the key to the Gaia Library. He uses its wealth of information to help Shotaro as a detective and one-half of Kamen Rider W.

Before Shotaro and Philip transformed into Kamen Rider W, Sokichi fought a Dopant with his bare hands. He was a normal private detective with a partner named Seiichiro Matsui. Sokichi took his childhood friend Fumine Sonozaki in after her family exiled her. His first case after she moved in was to protect his partner’s friend Melissa. The so-called Man Spider stalked this famed singer. The stalker dictated her next song, and he planned to attack her audience if she didn’t perform to his standards.
Though Sokichi could fend the Man Spider off, the monster still escaped. Fumine handed him the incomplete Skull Gaia Memory and the Lost Driver for his next battle. Sokichi refused the offer and insisted he would not become a Dopant like his enemies. His attitude changes as the Spider Dopant attacks ramp up, and all of Fuuto suffers. Sokichi’s investigation into the Gaia Memories would lead him to the Sonozaki family’s activities and the Begins Night event.
