It’s been a while since we discussed Blue Exorcist here on J-List. We briefly discussed a fiery teacher who demanded good attendance, but she was just one part of the series. I mean, she’s a great part of the series, but I digress. Blue Exorcist will finally see the series continue in January 2024. The new trailer will give just enough to hype fans up.
Kazue Kato began creating his fiery series on April 4th, 2009. Shueisha has since published 29 volumes in Jump Comics SQ. A-1 Pictures began adapting Blue Exorcist on April 17, 2011. Studio VOLN has taken up the task of adapting the Shimane Illuminati Saga. If you need a quick refresher, Joe wrote in-depth reviews with plenty of cultured GIFs scattered throughout.
Humanity’s best hope against Satan himself are as follows:
- Rin Okumura — Nobuhiko Okamoto (Katsuki Bakugo in My Hero Academia) voices a son of Satan with incredible demonic powers. Rin stands against his father to protect humanity.
- Shura Kirigakure — Rina Sato (Senjumaru Shutara in Bleach) voices a powerful warrior, and a devoted teacher to Rin. Shura has a fiery temper but is mostly easy-going and prone to drinking too much alcohol.
- Shiemi Moriyama — Kana Hanazawa (Mitsuri Kanroji in Demon Slayer) plays the incredibly kind and gentle gardener and exorcist. She counts herself among Rin’s friends, and potentially wants to become closer with him.
A home page, and an official Twitter page, are maintained to promote Blue Exorcist. Additional series information, and new key visuals, can be found there. Kazue Kato can also be found on Twitter.
Burn the Devil
Blue Exorcist is one of those very descriptive titles, in that it perfectly highlights the series as a whole. The titular character is Rin Okumura, a son of Satan with the power to prove it. Both he and his younger twin Yukio were raised by Father Shiro Fujimoto. Shiro died to protect his sons from Satan, which forces them to face the dark truth of the world, and their own heritage.
Rin and Yukio follow in Shiro’s footsteps to become exorcists. They enter the True Cross Academy to hone their skills and fight the evils of the world. Though Yukio lacks Rin’s incredible power, he is more than capable of the job. Rin’s own power sets him apart from the others, but he finds plenty of friends, and a hot teacher, while he’s there. He also has far more siblings than he would care to have. However, Rin’s goal remains clear: destroy Satan and avenge his true father Shiro. He has the power to do it, but it may just overwhelm him in the process.
What do you think of when you hear “inhuman being with blue flames and strange weapons?” Black Rock Shooter, of course! The Elishka POP UP PARADE Figure is now available for pre-order.
