While Acro Trip may have less (or no) fun “punishments” than in Gushing over Magical Girls, that doesn’t mean there’s no excitement to be found here. Our magical girl otaku supports someone she found but is the only one willing to cheer her on. We’ll see how our new favorite otaku does that when the series premieres sometime in 2024. Until then, let’s enjoy the trailer where these two first meet.
Yone Sawata worked on the original Acro Trip from February 3rd, 2017, to December 1st, 2022. Shueisha released all five volumes in Ribon.
Our magical girl, her idol, and her nemesis are as follows:
- Kaju Noichigo “Berry Blossom” — Inori Minase (Itsuki Nakano from The Quintessential Quintuplets). A fierce and proud magical girl. Her victories are a foregone conclusion, so no one bothers to watch her fights.
- Chizuko Date — Miku Ito (Frenika from Sword Art Online: Alicization). A girl who admired Berry Blossom from the moment she saw her. She’s not happy that Berry Blossom is overlooked by the town.
- Chroma — Nobunaga Shimazaki (Mahito from Jujutsu Kaisen). The leader of Fossa Magna, the local evil organization. Despite his strength, his plans are deemed lackluster.

Acro Trip Supports the Unpopular Magical Girl
Acro Trip happens in a world where magical girls and dangerous villains are everyday features. Chizuko Date has recently traveled to Niigata Prefecture to visit her grandfather. Her trip starts with a bang when she comes across an epic scene of good fighting evil. Berry Blossom cut a heroic figure as she stood to fight Chroma, the leader of the evil organization Fossa Magna. Berry Blossom’s victory was a foregone conclusion. She is strong, and Chroma only brought cute giant bears to their fight.
Chizuko was instantly enamored by Berry Blossom. However, she seemed to be the only one in Berry’s corner. Chroma is seen as weak and ineffectual, so no one is excited by her fights anymore. As such, her popularity has plummeted despite working hard to protect the town. Chizuko couldn’t stand it, so she sought out Chroma herself. The only way to make Berry Blossom shine as bright as possible is to make Chroma a viable foe.
