Not all reincarnated isekai lives work on Easy Mode. Reborn as Rio in a different world, Haruto faced tragedy. Things have since turned around for him, and they promise to get even better now that his cute childhood friend has joined him. We’ll see how they get along when Seirei Gensouki: Spirit Chronicles Season 2 premieres sometime in October 2024.
Yuri Kitayama posted the original Seirei Gensouki: Spirit Chronicles novel to Shosetsuka ni Naro between February 12th, 2014, and October 30th, 2020. Hobby Japan obtained the publishing rights and hired the artist Riv to adapt the series to a light novel format. This new run began on October 1st, 2015, in the HJ Bunko imprint. They have published 25 volumes thus far. TMS Entertainment’s anime adaptation premiered on July 6th, 2021.
Our isekai protagonist and a couple of his waifu companions are as follows:
- Haruto Amakawa / Rio — Yoshitsugu Matsuoka (Inosuke Hashibira from Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba). He was once an ordinary university student who tragically died in a car accident. Loss has marked his life as Rio ever since.
- Miharu Ayase — Sayaka Harada (Miyu Mifune from The Idolmaster Cinderella Girls). She is Haruto’s childhood friend and his first love. Miharu’s affections for him persist even in his reincarnated state.
- Celia Claire — Akane Fujita (Senko from Senran Kagura: Shinovi Master). She is a professor at the Beltrum Royal Academy. Celia acts as both Rio’s teacher and a love interest.

Seirei Gensouki: Spirit Chronicles Reborn to Set Things Right
Haruto was a regular university student on his way to reunite with his childhood friend and first love, Miharu. Their meeting never took place. A car accident ended Haruto’s life far too soon. He was reborn in Bertram Kingdom, a kingdom of magic in another world. Tragedy marked his new life as Rio. Orphaned at a young age, he grew up in the slums, scraping by merely to survive. His fortunes changed when he prevented the abduction of Princess Flora Beltrum. Rio’s heroism earned him a better lot in life.
Rio met different troubles and eventually had to flee the kingdom. Having grown as a hero and person, he rescued Miharu after forces spirited her away to his new world. They would soon discover that Miharu had a role to play.
