A New Fight Begins with the Witch on the Holy Night

Aoko Aozaki moves to Misaki town at the twilight of the Showa era (December 25th, 1926, through January 7th, 1989). She pursues rumors about a witch who lives in a mansion and meets Alice Kuonji. Aoko learns sorcery from her new teacher while she carries out her family’s sacred duty to protect Misaki town from threats both within and without. Someone unrelated catches her in the act, prompting her to chase after the one who witnessed real magic. We’ll see how Aoko upholds the Aozaki family tradition when the Witch on the Holy Night (Mahotsukai no Yoru, or Mahoyo) film premieres sometime in 2026.

Kinoko Nasu wrote the original Witch on the Holy Night visual novel as a prequel to Tsukihime. Type-Moon published the visual novel to PCs on April 12th, 2012. The game was ported to the Nintendo Switch and PlayStation 4 on December 8th, 2022.

Witch on the Holy Night Cast

Two of the cute witches are as follows:

Aoko Aozaki — Haruka Tomatsu (Lala Satalin Deviluke from To LOVE-Ru). Aoko is the heir to the Aozaki family of guardians.
Alice Kuonji — Kana Hanazawa (Ichika Nakano from The Quintessential Quintuplets). Alice is an overlooked and underappreciated daughter of the Kuonji family.

The Witch on the Holy Night Weaves Her Spells

Mr. Aozaki has suddenly declared his granddaughter Aoko as his successor and the future head of the prestigious Aozaki magus family. To that end, Aoko takes up guardianship of his land, Misaki town. She moves into the mysterious Kuonji mansion to learn magecraft from the rumored witch Alice Kuonji. Aoko and Alice set out to investigate the intruders who have begun to disrupt Misaki’s bounded fields. This leads them to fight enchanted mannequins sent to kill them.

In the act of defending themselves and upholding their duty, someone unrelated sees proof that magic is indeed real. Aoko catches Soujuurou Shizuki before he can flee. Soujuurou has his own circumstances, being a country boy living in a more populated town and everything. Aoko and Alice force him to move into the Kuonji mansion until they can erase his memories and preserve the secret of magic.
