A mysterious incident turned a bright-eyed and positive teacher into a loner NEET. His views on humanity plummeted to the absolute lowest point. Despite this, his parents continue to gently push him back into the real world. They know of his pain, but he must live life outside of video games. We’ll see him work to get back on his feet when A Misanthrope Teaches a Class for Demi-Humans (Jingai Kyoshitsu no Ningen-girai Kyoshi) premieres sometime in January 2026.
Natsume Kurusu and Sai Izumi released the original A Misanthrope Teaches a Class for Demi-Humans light novel on February 25th, 2022. Media Factory has since published four volumes in the MF Bunko J imprint.

Lessons Begin in A Misanthrope Teaches a Class for Demi-Humans
A mysterious traumatic experience at school left a happy and determined teacher as a cynical NEET. He viewed all of humanity as corrupt and beyond redemption. Rei now spends most of his time playing video games while his mother gently pushes him to get a new job. He takes on a new teaching job two years after his last one left him scarred.

Shiranui Prive High School is located in a remote forest and offers plenty of perks. Rei aced his interviews with the gentlemanly headmaster Karasuma and arrived at a prompt time. He quickly discovered that Shiranui is a magical school whose few students are all monster girls who desire to become human and fit in society. A magic barrier protects these girls while they learn how to take on human forms. The misanthropic Rei is curious as to why these girls would ever want to mingle with the humans he considers corrupt.
