Meiko Morita is a poor country girl with humble dreams and aspirations. She sees an ad for a prestigious girls’ academy in Tokyo and decides to apply. Meiko thought such places were beyond her reach, but the offer of a ¥250,000 (roughly $1,632) monthly allowance was too much to ignore. An academy higher up jumped at the chance to invite her, but only because her name matched that of an up-and-coming mangaka. We’ll see how she copes with life in the Tokyo manga cafe dorms when Ichijoma Mankitsu Gurashi! (Living Life to the Fullest in a Tiny One-Tatami-Mat-Sized Room) premieres sometime in April 2026.

Meiko Morita comes from a poor family living in the countryside. She lives a happy and humble life with her family, with no ambitious goals to speak of. However, things change when she chances upon an ad for Tokyo’s Amamiya Girls Academy. Meiko recognizes the wealthy Amamiya family name right away. She dismissed it outright until she read the ad properly. Meiko mistook the mentioned ¥250,000 monthly allowance for tuition. She put her name in right away.

Rie Amamiya immediately approved her application the moment she saw Meiko’s name. Meiko traveled to Tokyo and met new dorm mates at the Hedgehog manga café, her new dorm and workplace. Rie mistook Meiko for a prominent upcoming mangaka, and Meiko fears what may become of her new school life should others discover the mistake. At least she can have fun with her new friends, including a girl who likes to walk around in her panties.
