Diablo leads his adventuring party through his personal dungeon, happy to find things are still the same. However, fighting against his own traps and devices for real is different than in a video game.
Episode 4 – “Personal Doman”
Hmm.
Did How NOT to Summon a Demon Lord Ω just call idol fans a bunch of hooting sasquatches? Sure, but the story made sure to qualify them as “discerning” hooting sasquatches. Idol fans have standards, you know.
That scene in Demon Lord Ω also made a nice statement about the current condition of anime by combining the two most overused genres. We have isekai stories pouring out of whatever dimension Truck-kun delivers its sacrificial victims and the curtain keeps opening on musical idol shows every season. Why not combine the two premises in a fun way? How NOT to Summon a Demon Idol Master will not be coming to a screen near you anytime soon, though. I hope not!
Heh.
Horn still thinks she’ll be useful to Diablo in his own dungeon. Let her take the lead through the first three levels, but people become suspicious if he knows where everything is and what to do to beat the traps. But before all that happens in Demon Lord Ω, Fanis needs to show off her pirate background.
Diablo will need to bluff his way out of this desert piracy encounter. Oh, Diablo. Takuma’s social awkwardness cuts both ways into being too shy and being too brash. So self-aware! But he can’t help himself. Rem and Shera have been through this in Demon Lord before. Oh good. Lumachina explains how they’re trying to cure the Death Knell Disease. So innocent. Lumachina will show her panties to anyone. Ugh. When time is of the essence, Fanis wants to lock them up first. Run away!
Interesting. Diablo noticed Fanis let him go. Does Diablo still worry about indirect kisses after all the time he’s spent in his video game world? Stick that barbecue in the fire for a bit if you don’t want to catch cooties. Ha! In the world of Demon Lord Ω, Catgirls like meat seared and rare while elves prefer well done. Diablo’s dungeon is three days away. Hardcore mode in this game doesn’t let you have town portals or fast travel… Oh. Gewalt returned to the story so soon. What does Fanis get from Gewalt for trading the location of Diablo’s dungeon?
There it is. Home sweet dungeon. Watch out for that door clapper. It claps back! This is funny. Horn explains Diablo’s own dungeon to him. Takuma needs help. There is no world, much less Demon Lord Ω, where yelling at a girl to get off him would reassure her. Wow. Diablo’s social awareness progress is two steps forward, and one step way back. Ha! Hahaha! How do you beat a shifting maze? Blast right through it! The girls have a rough time dealing with Diablo’s mood swings. Takuma needs to chill out about hiding how he knows about his own dungeon. Just saying he’s a Demon Lord should be enough.
Ooh. Strip trivia over a hot lava trap. Lumachina made sure to keep her pope hat on. She also knows all about big monsters!
Oh no. No, they didn’t… Yes, they did! The staff of Demon Lord Ω turned the episode into Demon Idol Master Ω! The girls need to satisfy White Jaegers with their song, dance, and feelings! Holy crap, this is so insulting to idol fans. Come on, Takuma. Tell us how you really feel about that otaku sub-faction. Ahahaha! He made this level because of an idol game collab! Rem calls the designer of the dungeon god-like but childish. Dead to rights! Demon Producer from another world begins the idol process.
Song and dance, start! Nice. Diablo joins the dance group too. Haha! The White Jaegers have light sticks! Looks like they dug it.
Demon Lord Ω goes back to conventional dungeon stuff. Shera’s cursed bow makes one-shot kills. Takuma is glad everything in his dungeon stayed true to his design but going through it as a real person is intense. Eep. It was about time for Gewalt to make his reappearance. Isn’t it odd for a holy Paladin to summon putrid and corrupted creatures? It’s just another way Demon Lord Ω points out the corruption within the Church that Lumachina tries to correct. And there’s Gewalt. The end of the episode is close, so here comes our cliffhanger. Whoa! Horn tackled Gewalt into the rapids below the cliff! She had much emotion in that reaction, so she’s bound to have a story behind it. There’s the cliffhanger! Diablo jumped after them!
Next time, it looks like Diablo recovers his original staff and collects a new harem member.
The amazing artist ISHiKEi portrays Shera in all her thicc, wet glory in the end card.
