What Does Being a J-List Fan Say about You?

What’s at the heart of J-List? What’s the defining aspect that makes J-List — our customers, J-List fans, products, and staff — stand out? Is it a love of ecchi anime, an appreciation for soft, squishy lady bits, or a deep drive to collect every Hatsune Miku figure ever made? When I started out as a forum admin for JAST USA, I’d have said that J-List was all about selling lewd anime figures, adult toys, and snacks from Japan. Ka-pow! A shotgun definition that’s as good as any elevator pitch. But in the seven years since then, I’ve gotten to know the human heart of J-Listers.

And J-Listers are amazing individuals.

I know many J-Listers that regularly put in hard graft. Raw effort! A great example is the J-List Blog, which showcases our prolific anime bloggers. Visit the J-List (Official) Discord, and you’ll find artists, VTubers, and hobbyists who put consistent effort toward the passions that get them up in the morning. Their minds are always working.

We’re a varied fan base united by a love of anime and Japanese pop culture.

J-List Fans are Curiouser and Curiouser

Another commonality J-List fans share is an interest in the world and how it works. But it’s not a simple curiosity that’s happy with a basic understanding. J-List fans can unpack an anime just as easily as they can strip an engine or optimize a computer. We all have different interests, but our brains are working overtime. All the time.

Think About It!

Do you get bored easily? Does “normal” incite yawning fits? And vanilla just doesn’t cut it for you, right? Anime and manga are built differently, so they suit the J-Lister’s active brain.

Here’s an example and a self-test: Do you know many random facts about a fictional world you’ve never visited because you became obsessed with its anime or manga? Do you also have trouble pinpointing Estonia on a map?

Or can you name ten different mecha, but listing US presidents causes your eyeballs to roll back into their sockets?
