Uzaki-chan Wants to Hang Out! S2, Ep 9: Wanna Onsen Day!

Uzaki-chan and family take a trip to an onsen spa park for a day full of warm, wet swimsuit fun!

Episode 9 – “Fujio Uzaki Wants Family Time!”

Hmm.

Anime and commercial brands have a long history of collaboration in Japan. How often have you seen Boruto on a burger wrapper or Luffy on a Fanta soda can? Recently, Demon Slayer did a product tie-in with McDonald’s Happy Meals. Fist of the North Star is on whiskey bottles. But Uzaki-chan Wants to Hang Out! did an extraordinary thing in this spa resort fanservice episode. Having anime characters decorate a pop-up section in a restaurant is a common occurrence. But putting the restaurant inside the anime is on a different level. That is what happened to the Yunessun Spa Resort in this episode.

It’s not the first time Uzaki-chan Wants to Hang Out! has gone to an anime-themed location. In the anime’s first season, Uzaki-chan and her college friends went to the Tottori sand dunes. That featured Detective Conan exhibits at its airport. The airport even renamed itself! Tottori’s tourism board aimed to turn itself into a manga and anime destination because many famous artists were born there. The collaboration with Yunessun is distinct because the only anime featured at the resort is Uzaki-chan Wants to Hang Out!.

Uzaki-chan posters can watch you eat mint-chocolate ice cream! Can Yunessun become an anime holy land because it was in an episode of Uzaki-chan Wants to Hang Out!? Real-world locations in anime become places for fans to visit when an impactful event happens there. I doubt the spa resort will become such a site for Uzaki-chan fans. But there is one area inside the grounds that has a chance. The cave area where Sakurai and Uzaki-chan ran into each other could be the one. Any scene with emotional impact and sexy bodies, especially a short stack next to washboard abs, is memorable.

Yay! Fujio wants a family trip because the kids are done with exams. It’s the onsen episode! Uzaki-chan Wants to Hang Out! has been teasing the cross-promotional partnership with Hakone Kowakien Yunessun since the summer. The website almost looks like this! Uh oh. Kiri is still traumatized from swimming against Sakurai. And losing to him again in the shower room! Hoho. Yanagi teases Hana about taking Sakurai-senpai to Yunessun next time. Fujio doesn’t want to hear anything about Hana liking a guy. He’s so angry that he makes an Initial D reference! Aw. Little Hana was a Kansai daddy’s girl.

Look at this long commercial for Yunessun. Ha! Kuso Cat and the Yunessun mascot will have a buddy arc. Things stay steamy inside the resort. And so does Uzaki-chan’s strappy bikini! The Uzakis make a fine-looking family! Uzaki-chan Wants to Hang Out! shows us all the novelty baths at Yunessun. It’s like the Disneyland of hot springs resorts. Tsuki makes suggestive sounds when “Doctor Fish” tickle her tootsies. All the Uzakis make weird noises in public.

Of course. It’s not a bikini episode until dudes try to pick up the beautiful main characters. Uzaki-chan says this hasn’t happened to her lately because Sakurai’s mean eyes have scared people away. Yanagi knew it was because those two looked like a couple. Yanagi scared those guys away by claiming she and Uzaki-chan were junior high students! Uzaki-chan Wants to Hang Out! leans into the short stack controversy. Oof. Get away from papa bear Fujio. Har. Fujio should pay attention to the attention Tsuki gets too. Hohoho! Fujio gets guys hitting on him! The Kuso Cat buddy arc with Yunessun-kun continues.

Oh? Who are those familiar voices in the cave baths? Uzaki-chan Wants to Hang Out! can’t keep Sakurai and Uzaki-chan apart. Fair question. Sakaki did not engineer a meeting! Sakurai has a level head. Uzaki-chan should spend time with her family instead of joining her college friends. It’s another missed opportunity for Fujio to meet Sakurai as Hana’s senpai! There’s still time for Sakurai to compliment Uzaki-chan’s sexy, strappy bikini. The dudes give us their version of a Yunessun commercial.

Time to eat and go home for Uzaki-chan Wants to Hang Out!. Kuso Cat has completed his Yunessun-kun training. Ha! The resort has Kuso Cat buns. Kiri gets the wrong idea about his family getting hit on. He’ll get girls flirting with him too! Yunessun Kuso Cat will not get hit on either.

Next time, it’s almost Christmas!
