Episode 7 — “Chiyo-chan Can’t Take the ****? (Part 2)”
Hmm.
Did you notice how tightly Chiyo’s massage arc matched her characterization? Sawaranaide Kotesashi-kun showed us the scenes of equating armpit massage with medieval sexual torture. I expected that, so I congratulate the anime for fulfilling its promise. But it also landed a punchline that it had been setting up for Chiyo since the second episode. What was that? She falls in love with and makes oshis out of shojo game heroes!
In the second episode of Sawaranaide Kotesashi-kun, Kouyou tripped over piles of garbage in Chiyo’s bedroom. Her aesthetic set her up as a shut-in gamer. And in last week’s episode, the circumstances leading up to her armpit agony came from spending too much time on a video game. Finally, Chiyo’s visualization for overcoming the pain from armpit poking resembled a generic version of Warrior from Dragon Quest escaping a bondage session. Chiyo is a gamer girl!
So, how did she claim to have so much more experience with love than Aoba and Izumi? The only way an obsessed hikikomori would: She claimed her video game character love interests were her boyfriends! Chiyo is in trouble now, though. She had never had a crush on an IRL meat space character. How does that work? Where’s the dialog tree? I hope Sawaranaide Kotesashi-kun makes more otome gamer jokes at Chiyo’s expense in the future.

Picking up from last week’s episode, Chiyo embraces the pain of armpit massage. Kouyou promises it will hurt. A lot! Chiyo worries about how Kouyou’s authentic smile makes him look like a sadist. Here comes more Pepee lotion! Chiyo’s inner monologue is crazy! She thinks Aoba and Izumi have already fallen in love with Kouyou, so Chiyo hopes to guard her heart from his sincere personality. Um, like a sincere evil mad scientist?
Hahaha! Kouyou vs. Chiyo in Armpit Massage Fighter! Can Chiyo beat the armpit button masher? Sawaranaide Kotesashi-kun knows the audience’s demographics. Whoa. Her interior mindscape looks like Warrior from Dragon Quest is inside a torture doujin. And the sexy armor breaking is straight out of Queen’s Blade! Is it over? Not yet! Kouyou looks like a monk chanting an exorcism spell. He says it’s the final spurt of extra pain!
Electro Armpit Shock Treatment in Sawaranaide Kotesashi-kun
These electricity sparks remind me of Crimson’s chikan doujin series. Bring on the tentacle torture! The final boss in Armpit Quest is Kouyou as the Demon Lord. He tells Chiyo the pain will stop if she gives up. What a mind-breaking temptation! No! Chiyo has more mental fortitude than to acquiesce to sinister demands. Perseverance will break her binge gaming habit so she can focus on table tennis again. Time to level up!
Back to reality and Chiyo panting on her bed. A familiar sight for Sawaranaide Kotesashi-kun. Hey! No more armpit pain! What about the other armpit? Hahaha! Kouyou tells Chiyo that she has more pain tolerance than sumo wrestlers and rugby players! Whoops. He also called her “cute.” You can’t play with a maiden’s heart like that, Kouyou-chin! She’s done playing video games. She needs sleep so she can go to practice tomorrow. Kouyou doesn’t understand — the point of the armpit torture was to loosen her neck and shoulders so she could see better. The pain loosened up other things, I suppose. Oh no. Chiyo claimed she had fallen in love many times, but they were the male gacha game characters! She has no experience in love!
Sawaranaide Kotesashi-kun Moves Out of the Dorms
Now the Miyuki arc starts in Sawaranaide Kotesashi-kun. How do we get there? By going to school! What? How many days has it been since Kouyou moved into Momiji Manor? Was it the last week of spring vacation? He laid hands on four girls already! Ack. Kouyou will lose the hearing in both ears with Aroma and Aoba sharing his homeroom class.
Uh oh. A Wild Senpai with Danger Hair has arrived. Talk? Fight? Flee? She knows Kouyou’s name! Haha! Jealous Aoba Cat hisses. Oh. Moeko Hayami is on the volleyball team with Miyuki. Sawaranaide Kotesashi-kun starts the Mommy Volleyball League doujin plot. The volleyball player needs a favor from Kouyou — join the team’s weekend training camp as their trainer and masseur. I like where this anime is going! I’m sure the other girls will think it’s a brilliant idea for limber, athletic girls to surround a lone boy all weekend long. I do!
