Overworked Miss Fushihara meets a cute baby ghost at work during unpaid overtime. Ghost-chan and her spirit friends help take away corporate drones’ stress and worries.
First Thoughts.
How often does a healing anime tell you what to expect in its title? The Japanese title for Miss Shachiku and the Little Baby Ghost (Shachiku-san wa Youjo Yuurei ni Iyasaretai) translates to Ms. Corporate Slave wants a young girl’s ghost to heal her. This is what we see in the first episode of the anime adapted from the manga by Imari Arita.
The subgenre of lonely office workers living with supernatural beings within the overall slice-of-life genre has become popular recently. It’s easy to see similarities between Miss Kobayashi’s Dragon Maid and The Helpful Fox Senko-san. Just mix in a heavy dose of Gakuen Babysitters with those two shows, and you have Miss Shachiku and the Little Baby Ghost. My heart is ready to melt each week from these adorable spirits.
Meet the Baby Girl Ghosts and their Corporate Slaves
- Ghost-chan cares for Miss Fushihara, who works overtime at a “black” company. Ghost-chan heals Fushihara’s worries every day. Rina Hidaka (Filo from The Rising of the Shield Hero and Milim Nava from That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime) voices the caring baby girl ghost. Hisako Kanemoto (Zenith Greyrat from Mushoku Tensei and Airi Gotou from Higehiro) voices the exploited programmer.
- Myako is a cat spirit who lives with Fushihara and Ghost-chan. Konomi Kohara (Chika Fujiwara from Kaguya-sama and Roxy Migurdia from Mushoku Tensei) voices the cute black cat who tries to make Fushihara’s home less stressful.
- Satsuki Kurahashi, Fushihara’s next-door neighbor, has a secret: the cute baby maid ghost Lily lives with her! Maaya Uchida (Ranko Kanzaki from The Idolm@ster and Rena Fukami from Grisaia: Phantom Trigger) voices the slovenly illustrator who frustrates her cute ghost maid. Kaori Ishihara (Shouta from Miss Kobayashi’s Dragon Maid) voices the harsh-tongued, but forgiving, baby ghost maid.
- Yui Ogura (Kokoro from The Great Jahy Will Not Be Defeated!) voices the baby ogre fox spirit Miko-chan. I wonder when she will join the other baby ghosts in their cute adventures.
Heh.
Fushihara works in the office in the middle of the night. Strange things begin to happen. Someone, or something, wants her to leave. Who? It’s a cute baby ghost with a voice-changing megaphone! Fushihara can’t stand the cuteness.
Aw. Ghost-chan worries about Fushihara’s health. The little ghost thinks the office worker has been making an offering of salmon onigiri on purpose! If Fushihara works herself to death, Ghost-chan won’t have that rice ball anymore! Shoulder rubbing, lap sitting, and baby ghost hugging relaxes and recharges Fushihara. She can finish writing her code now!
Fushihara, in the epilogue, explains why the voice-changer is in the office supply closet. The boss made her dress like an alien at the last office party! Fushihara used the alien voice on the megaphone! Ghost-chan will need to heal Fushihara’s stress a lot at this office.
Miss Shachiku and the Little Baby Ghost (Shachiku-san wa Youjo Yuurei ni Iyasaretai) streams on Crunchyroll and VRV in Japanese audio and English subtitles.
