Mangagamer is back in black. Black Friday that is.
Earlier this summer Mangagamer encountered problems with its payment processor that meant fans of the long-time visual novel website couldn’t make purchases using credit cards, the primary payment option. In an effort to work through those issues Mangagamer made changes to their website, including censoring adult images, but their efforts paid off, and on September 18th they announced a resolution of the problems.
New releases have been coming faster than ever, admittedly thanks in part to delays due to the payment issue. I’ve already reviewed Maggot Baits, but other new release reviews are coming, including Funbag Fantasy 2.
You can read about other changes to Mangagamer’s website with my previous article on the topic. A new change that isn’t listed though is that the Mangagamer website now takes your payment information without routing you through a third party site. Load times, in particular, were sometimes a problem with the old interface, so I’m glad that they made this change. The only bug I’ve managed to find with the website change is based on the adult/family friendly segregation. Clicking on the title of a game you own on your account page never links to that game’s page if it’s in the adult section, but instead dumps you at the main site. The reason for this seems to be because the account page is part of the family friendly side.
Now that Mangagamer is back, it’s no surprise that they are joining in on the Black Friday sales craze. Mangagamer is having an autumn sale to coincide with Steam’s, discounting a wide variety of adult and family-friendly visual novels. You have until 11:59 PM EST on December 3rd to make up your mind, a bit longer than Steam’s sale lasts. You can find the full list of discounts announced here. They are selling a number of my own reviewed favorites, including Evenicle, and the first Funbag Fantasy. Games with adult content censored on Steam have adult patches that can be downloaded for free.
If you’re curious about hard copies for some of these games, J-List has you covered. Not only do we have physical versions of Funbag Fantasy (NSFW), and Evenicle (NSFW), but you can get your hands on delicious physical swag like the Evenicle and Evenicle II artbook (NSFW). For you figure collectors out there, put your hands all over Shamsiel Shahar in cast-off form. We’ve even got our own Black Friday sale too.
Just make sure you’re getting everything you want when you checkout. Once you’ve used a discount during our sale it won’t be applied again if you happen to think of other things you need.
Mangagamer is back, and it’s a great time to spend money. I know what I’ll be buying, do you?
