Benjamin Franklin said that the two certainties in life are death and taxes. There are actually three certainties, but erotic cosplay hadn’t been invented yet (a shame, he would’ve loved it). Welcome to the very embodiment of the classic internet Rule34, as we shamefully dive into the confusingly erotic world of Hollow Knight: Silksong cosplay.

What’s the Deal with Hollow Knight: Silksong Cosplay?
If you’ve missed out on the hype, Hollow Knight: Silksong is the long-awaited sequel to the tough-as-nails indie platformer, Hollow Knight, first released in 2017. Its innovative design, charming art, beautiful music, and challenging battles helped Hollow Knight ride the wave of Soulslike popularity. Team Cherry — an Australian studio comprised of only three people — sold 15 million copies during the game’s lifetime.
The first game stars the titular, nameless knight, with two boss encounters against Hornet, the eventual star of Silksong. Even in 2017, her personality, punishing difficulty, and air of mystery led fans to produce plenty of fan art and some early cosplay. With Silksong’s proper release in September 2025, the fandom has taken their love for Hornet to new heights, with a wave of fan art and surprisingly erotic cosplays.
Let’s check out the first of many incredible Silksong cosplays from some of our favorite models and cosplayers!

Why Is Hollow Knight: Silksong So Popular?
Despite announcing Silksong back in 2019, the sequel seemingly entered development hell, with few updates, prompting the community to spiral into various memes and “coping.” That all changed in late August 2025, when Team Cherry suddenly announced Silksong‘s release with barely two weeks’ warning.
The game is unrelentingly challenging — and this writer is still in the depths of the even more punishing “Act 3.” This difficulty has proven its greatest asset, drawing favorable comparisons to FromSoftware titles such as Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice and Bloodborne. In just over a month, Silksong has reached 6 million downloads (courtesy of Gamesradar+), demonstrating a desire for challenging games made with genuine soul amidst a general disinterest in AAA gaming. (Although there are certainly exceptions—such as the brilliant Stellar Blade).

The Reasons We Love Silksong Cosplay!
There are plenty of reasons why Hornet has captured the fandom’s imagination. Obviously, being a girl, she lends herself to easy lewding, particularly for fans of black bodysuits. As a character, she’s self-possessed and driven, frustrated by her own inaction during the events of Hollow Knight and determined to right those wrongs in the strange new land of Pharloom.
Hornet is also, simply put, badass. Many games struggle with making female main characters by trying to balance femininity with capability. Team Cherry realized that all we ever wanted was a bug-girl in a dress, kicking ass through most of animalia anthropoda, sometimes with nothing but a sharp stick. Hornet is the warrior princess little girls draw in their picture books, and frankly, the indefatigable hero we need to shine a little light on 2025.
Speaking of warrior queens (or kings, as it turns out), check out J-List’s fantastic Fate/EXTRA art books by Tonee, featuring Mordred, the beautiful and battle-hardened swordswoman.
