Manatsu and Yuzu take over the production of a promotional video project for the Kanto Jet Race Association.
OVA – “Tokyo Girls Take a Shot at Promotion”
Hmm.
The extra video that comes with the Kandagawa Jet Girls special edition of the video game is pure fun and fan service. The official anime site doesn’t have a synopsis for it, so you know the OVA is extra special. Deluxe, even. There’s no racing, though there is one jet racer scene. It’s just a fun, comedic time spent with the characters from the anime as they try to sell the sport of jet racing through the eyes of Manatsu and Yuzu, the flashy gal team from Tokyo.
The story takes place after the events of the anime season, so everyone is still friends or friendly rivals, and Rin and Misa are still adorably close. It was good to see Manatsu and Yuzu’s dedication to completing their work. It’s not a surprise that they take their efforts seriously. We saw how competitive they were during the Kandagawa Jet Girls season, so their characterization stayed the same. Everybody else’s did too, which made the OVA just a nice visit with old friends. Old friends maneuvered into accidentally sexy situations by Manatsu and Yuzu!
Heh.
Nice. Rin and Misa of the Kandagawa Jet Girls continue down their lovey-dovey yuri path. Uh oh. Super Friends need to get together! This Hall of Justice has a nice conference room. Oh. Kaguya needs help making a promotional video for the prefecture’s jet racing league. I can’t imagine why the association rejected her video when it was only scenes of her and Kuromaru working out and riding their jet racer. And torture. Lots of torture. Ah. This is where the scenes of Kaguya’s training montage projected onto the pool water came from.
Yeah! Let the pros work their magic. Uh, this just turned into another idol gravure video for the Hell’s Kitchen idol group like we saw during the Kandagawa Jet Girls season. Rejected. This is a good idea. The Tokyo flashy gals look like influencers on social media, so they should know how to make a promotional video (PV) go viral. Manatsu, Yuzu, show your stuff!
The Kandagawa Jet Girls wash their jet race machines in swimsuits. Yes. Yes! Emily and Jennifer are here too! The Californians were born for this job! Misa had enough of Yuzu’s “direction” for “skinship” with her beloved Orcano.
Not sure why we’re doing the tea ceremony with Fuka and Inori. We’re starting to get further away from jet racing, like what happened with the idol twins. It’s the classic foot-fidgeting scene when trying to sit in the polite tucked position. Misa seems able to handle it but her Kandagawa Jet Girls partner Rin has as much trouble as the Americans. Manatsu and Yuzu wanted to catch a glimpse of girls falling over, of course. Not exactly “Cool Japan,” or jet racing either.
Cool Japan goes for hot girls in fundoshi (traditional loincloths) and shorty robes! Har. Fuka riding a portable shrine turns her turbo mode on. Cover your ears, children! And now the Kandagawa Jet Girls OVA is totally off the rails. California kunoichi confront a dragon lady! This is a bad ’70’s martial arts movie. Even twin fairies are in it! Hell’s Kitchen doesn’t like people reminding them how “small” they are, though. Manatsu and Yuzu aren’t even trying to justify the cheesecake photoshoots now. Inori let them borrow her Gatling Water Gun. Wet T-shirts? In jet racing? We see them wear less than this during a race.
Oh no! These poor girls. They just found out they must edit and polish their PV by tomorrow! Talk about talented. Manatsu put together that video in nothing but a bath towel. Disaster again! They can’t even upload it! They have to deliver a physical disk. Traffic and trains are bad, but the Kandagawa River is open. They’re jet racers, so they can do their thing! They made it! Uh, these old guys don’t seem to like watching the Kandagawa Jet Girls yelp in pain.
All that work and the jet racing association’s promo video is just the two dolphin mascots explaining Jet Racing rules. Misa likes the official one anyway. The dolphins are cute!
