Senpai meets Nagatoro and friends at the summer festival. On the first day back at school, Senpai rescues Nagatoro from annoying boys.
Episode 7 – “Senpai, Want to Go to the Festival? / It’s Like a Date, Huh, Senpai? / Let’s Go Home, Senpai”
Hmm.
Ijiranaide, Nagatoro-san showed us great character development for Senpai this week. He’s starting to seek out Nagatoro’s company and he’s starting to push back on her teasing insults. The way he made Nagatoro say naughty things made me smile so big. Senpai’s assertive streak didn’t end there.
We’ve seen during Nagatoro-san’s season that Senpai has no male friends. The only time we’ve seen him interact with other boys was from his bullying flashback in the first episode. Senpai needed to screw up his courage to take an antagonistic attitude toward them, but he did get encouragement from seeing that Nagatoro didn’t like them either.
Senpai only has eyes for Nagatoro, of course. As an introvert, he should have noticed that Yoshi was the one who needed the most rescuing. She follows Gamo-chan’s lead most of the time in Nagatoro-san, but Gamo-chan can take care of herself in rebuffing boys’ unwelcome attention. Yoshi looked the most relieved when Senpai showed up and gave Nagatoro an avenue to escape. Senpai rose in Nagatoro’s esteem and her friends’ eyes as well.
Heh.
Oho. Senpai feels the pressure to ask Nagatoro to the summer festival. Already dating! He figured Nagatoro would pester him to go and waited by his phone. Traditional role reversal there. Ha. Senpai went anyway. Just call her, Senpai! Whose hand is that? Aha! Gamo-chan and Yoshi will handle Senpai’s teasing needs. He’s so disappointed. Run away! Flashy gals are always more athletic than nerds for some reason, even though they do about the same amount of sitting around. Do gyaru stay in shape by walking everywhere? Or some other physical activity?
Kinky times in Nagatoro-san! Yoshi and Gamo-chan treat Senpai like a pet by putting a dog collar on him. Nagatoro is in a swimsuit again. Aw. She wants to go to the summer festival with Senpai too. Oh! That’s Nagatoro bait if there ever was one. Gamo-chan knows her friend too well. Nagatoro light speed! Haha. She lies so badly. Gamo-chan and Yoshi have so much fun teasing Nagatoro about her feelings for Senpai.
Summer festival contest time for Nagatoro-san. Win the most prizes at the game stalls to “win” Senpai. Yoshi and Senpai have something in common – they both have a stronger personality dragging them around. The first contest is the shooting gallery. Cute. Nagatoro noticed Senpai hoping to see her at the festival. Senpai loves these moments too. We can tell because Nagatoro’s hair went into hyper-detailed mode. We didn’t get a moment like that during the beach episode last time. Hoho. Right on the target for Nagatoro. Aw. She wanted Senpai to ask her too.
Nagatoro-san summer festival montage! For a socially awkward guy with no friends, Senpai looks like a stud at the festival surrounded by three pretty girls. Who wins? Quality over quantity, says Nagatoro. Yoshi accepts a bribe of a plushy squid. Clever girl. Nagatoro took the biggest prize: Senpai!
Yoshi and Gamo-chan enjoyed the food stalls with Senpai in the first eye catch. Yoshi dreamed of more grilled squid in her eye catch.
Finally. It’s time for Nagatoro-san’s summer festival date! Hold her hand, Senpai! Oh well. He’ll get more chances. Fireworks above and below. These two tend to get stuck in line. That means more handholding for Senpai, yes? Yes! Senpai knows a spot to watch the fireworks, but doesn’t that dark place look like where all the festival couples go? Boom, boom! Impressive, Senpai.
Uh oh. Nagatoro can’t let her lovey-dovey feelings sit too long. Time to toy with Senpai again in Nagatoro-san. Senpai took Nagatoro to a dark, quiet spot to do sleazy things to her! Like what, exactly? Haha! Turn the tables on Nagatoro. Be specific. Say the words, Nagatoro! Senpai starts growing a spine. Throwing arms around her, kissing her, and stuff is “sleazy.” Take notes, Senpai. Ohohoho! Look at all the “sleazy” couples! Senpai took Nagatoro to lover’s lane! Will Nagatoro stop teasing Senpai about his lack of romantic experience now? Doubtful. Aw. Senpai wants to see Nagatoro in her yukata too. There’s always next year.
Wow. There are three small episodes in Nagatoro-san this week. We had prologues before, but they didn’t get titles. First day back to school already. Senpai achieved his goals of playing video games, watching anime, reading manga, and filling a sketch page. Har. The first thing Senpai does is hide behind a tree when he hears Gamo-chan’s voice. Ha. He calls Nagatoro’s group of friends the “Nagatoro family.” Senpai doesn’t recognize Sakura.
Ugh. Annoying boys. Sakura shows interest. The other girls don’t. This is like Senpai watching Nagatoro with boys in the diner in that previous Nagatoro-san episode. Yoshi doesn’t like these guys at all. Uh, Senpai went full stalker right here.
Ooh. Senpai wants to rescue his damsel in distress, Nagatoro! Can he talk to other boys? Flashy gals used to be scary for him, but not anymore. Yoshi looks stressed out. Gamo-chan and Yoshi are happiest that Senpai came over. Pure alpha move. Ignore the gnats and talk directly to the women. Hyper-detailed hair for Nagatoro again. Nagatoro took her chance. And so did the other girls! Sit down, scrubs. Alpha Senpai took home all the girls. He’s starting to become the better man Nagatoro saw in him.
Hey, Nagatoro-san! Senpai is not Eromanga-sensei! Sketchy subtitles again, calling him “Hentai Manga Sensei.” Look at that smile. Senpai does belong in this group.
Next time, the Nagatoro family tries to get massages from Senpai.
