As cultured otaku, we love high fantasy anime girls. Good or evil, medieval-style girls are great. Let’s focus on the high fantasy villainesses here because every heroine needs a villainess to fight. Well, what if a particular villainess took that a bit far? What would happen if The Swamp Witch from Queen’s Blade gathered more powerful allies from throughout space and time? The heroines of her world have thwarted her desire to end the Queen’s Blade Tournament and taken control for too long. Here is my list of whom she would recruit from other worlds to find victory.
1. The Swamp Witch (Queen’s Blade)
The Swamp Witch desires to bring her world’s many healers and swordswomen to heel. But instead of raising skeletons and legendary figures to life with her vast amount of dark magic, she should tear open portals to other worlds. The Swamp Witch would take center stage among the parallel worlds’ most ruthless high fantasy villainesses, offering her new allies whatever reward they wished. Then, the Queen’s Blade Tournament would come to an end!
Queen’s Blade first began its sexy tournament as a series of visual combat books published by Hobby Japan. Studio ARMS’s anime adaptation premiered on April 2nd, 2009.
2. Karla (Record of Lodoss War)
Karla doesn’t consider herself evil because a tragic loss gave her a twisted worldview. She’s determined to keep a sense of “balance” between the forces of good and evil. In fact, she became a legendary hero during the War of the Demon King. Karla would use her vast magical power and wisdom to strike down the forces of good to keep her “balance.” The Swamp Witch could be of use in this endeavor. After all, they both have healers and dark elves with which to contend.
Ryo Mizuno released the original Record of Lodoss War novel series between April 10th, 1988, and March 27th, 1993. Kadokawa Shoten released all seven volumes and two side stories in the Kadokawa Sneaker Bunko imprint. Studio Madhouse’s anime adaptation premiered on June 30th, 1990.
Karla can easily infiltrate any group by possessing one of their own. She is old and wise enough to play the part as long as needed. Karla would likely demand the witch’s undead army to fight the forces of light and darkness.
3. Aura (Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End)
Aura and The Swamp Witch are birds of a blackened feather. She is another high fantasy villainess who enslaves people on a whim. Aura must put her life on the line to control people, but this was never much of a problem. Her luck eventually ran out when Frieren revealed how much mana she possessed and turned Aura’s magic on her. Frieren compelled Aura to take her own head.
Kanehito Yamada and Tsukasa Abe released the original Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End manga series on April 28th, 2020. Shogakukan published twelve volumes in Weekly Shonen Sunday afterward. Studio Madhouse’s anime adaptation premiered on September 29th, 2023.
What if The Swamp Witch intervened and rose Aura from the abyss to serve her? It won’t get her off Santa’s Naughty List, though. Aura’s ability to subjugate multitudes of people while maintaining a facade of wanting peace would help The Swamp Witch increase her territory. In exchange, Aura should want to stay alive and demand revenge against Frieren.
4. Seilah (Fairy Tail)
Seilah is another powerful demon and high fantasy villainess worthy to join The Swamp Witch’s ranks. Her ability to control others in a similar yet less risky way to Aura’s made her a dangerous foe. Seilah’s secret form further increased the danger she posed to the Fairy Tail guild and their maids. Yet she fell in battle and let her enemy copy her form and powers.
Hiro Mashima began to write and illustrate the original Fairy Tail manga series on August 2nd, 2006. Kodansha has since released 78 volumes across the different Fairy Tail manga series. A-1 Pictures’ anime adaptation premiered on October 12th, 2009.
Seilah will have to do much for The Swamp Witch if she wants to get everything back. Seilah’s Macro curse allows her to control anything or anyone she desires, and coupled with her demonic form, would make for a capable frontline fighter. She is still loyal to Kyoka (her Tartaros Guild mate), which works in a certain swampy witch’s favor because she would demand that The Swamp Witch revive Kyoka in exchange for her services.
5. Pronyma (Tales of Symphonia)
Pronyma is the leader of the Desian Grand Cardinals. Her loyalty to Yggdrasil meets with betrayal at the end, but The Swamp Witch can raise her without issue. Her magical gifts, intellect, leadership skills, and access to advanced technology make her an asset to the witch. She’s still a high fantasy villainess but can access a few teleporters and flying ships. Like her fellow villainesses, she had to deal with elves and ninjas in battle.
Namco Tales Studio published the original Tales of Symphonia video game on August 29th, 2003. Ufotable’s anime adaptation premiered on June 8th, 2007.
Pronyma’s rank as Yggdrasil’s second-in-command highlights her combat and leadership skills. Her demise at Yggdrasil’s hand makes it difficult to determine whether she would want him revived so she could be with him or she could take revenge on him.
