We’ve looked at a few anime girl archetypes, from samurai girls to bunny girls to even truly overpowered girls. Now it’s time for the genius girls who actually studied for their tests. The sort of girls who outwit their opponents with sheer intellect. There’s nothing more appealing than a girl who is as intelligent as she is sexy, and we will prove it with the power of science.
1. Ayame Himuro (Science Fell in Love, So I Tried to Prove It / Rikei ga Koi ni Ochita no de Shoumei shitemita)
Ayame Himuro is a 1st-year post-graduate science and technology researcher at Saitama University. So she is a beautiful genius who applies brilliance to everything she encounters. This includes even the unscientific concept of love. She’s also the one to confess to her love interest Shinya Yukimura, her colleague and academic rival, rather than being the pretty girl who gets confessions regularly.
2. Bulma Brief (Dragon Ball Z)
A girl who is so iconic that she gets to appear on multiple lists of best girls. Bulma is a prodigy who was able to pilot a spaceship at the age of five, right after fixing it for Jaco after building a laser gun to defend herself after she assumed he was an evil alien. After graduating from university at age fifteen, she located the two-star Dragon Ball, a legendary magical artifact, in her basement and created the Dragon Radar to find the rest.
Years later, she reverse-engineered alien spaceships to build her own spaceship to travel to another planet. Many years after that, she constructed a time machine.
3. Jennifer (Disgaea)
Jennifer is a brilliant scientist, martial artist, and faithful assistant in Disgaea: Hour of Darkness and Makai Senki Disgaea. She constructed the sophisticated robot with near-sentience Thursday at age five and earned her Ph.D. at age ten. Jennifer is a hero of Earth and stands beside Captain Gordon to fight evil, whether a demon or a human. She is also obviously sexy and wears very little, which agitates Laharl.
4. Kurisu Makise (Steins;Gate)
Kurisu is another beautiful scientific prodigy and a key figure in the events of her series. After graduating from university at seventeen, this genius girl was granted access to high-end facilities in the Brain Science Institute at Viktor Chondria University and the Future Gadget Lab, a gathering of science nerds founded and hosted by Rintaro Okabe. She initially refused to believe in time machines until she saw the PhoneWave (Name subject to change) and devised the Time Leap Machine.

5. Ami Mizuno / Sailor Mercury (Sailor Moon)
Ami is one of the four Inner Sailor Guardians and the second Senshi recruited by Luna in the manga, after Usagi herself. She is the team’s intellectual member, who employs strategy and the Mercury Visor (the face-mounted display that acts as a computer to relay information while allowing her to use the Hyperspatial Sphere Generate ability). Her academic career likewise rides high, as she typically finishes at the top of the national exams.
Her Sailor Mercury powers revolve around the elements of snow, ice, water, sleet, and mist.

6. Tsunade (Naruto)
Tsunade is one of the legendary three ninjas of Konoha, alongside Jiraya and Orochimaru. Considered the world’s strongest kunoichi and can call upon immense strength, Tsunade is also the most skilled medical ninja in the world and revolutionized the medical ninja system, including the entire system of rules that medical ninjas must adhere to.
7. Winry Rockbell (Fullmetal Alchemist)
Winry is a training surgeon and automail repair specialist who followed in her parents and grandmother’s footsteps to heal people. She became proficient in her ability to operate on patients and affix automail prosthetics to people to earn a high reputation among her customers. Probably has nothing to do with her tantalizing figure and her choice of attire.
8. Nami (One Piece)
Nami is a woman of many talents besides just looking incredibly attractive. She’s a noted thief and money manager but also an expert cartographer capable of reading and making maps to guide the crew from location to location. Her combat prowess is enough to blow anyone off their feet. Nami employs Clima-Tact with the Art of Weather, and coupled with her immense knowledge of meteorology and weather systems, she calls down truly divine lighting.
9. Washu Hakubi (Tenchi Muyo!)
Depending on which part of the Tenchi series you read or watch, Washu is either a reformed pirate and scientist or she is one of three goddesses whose abilities created the multiverse. Endowed with powers beyond imagining, she only wished to see something higher. So she lowered herself into the third dimension and sealed off her memories and abilities to live as a mortal. Of course, she’s still one of the most brilliant scientists who can create life in a lab and can become a legend in her own right.
10. Motoko Kusanagi (Ghost in the Shell)
Motoko Kusanagi, also called The Major, is a figure in Public Security Section 9. She is a highly skilled soldier, capable of masterful armed and unarmed combat. And she can drive or fly anything she needs. Kusanagi is a brilliant tactician who can plan steps ahead of her opponents. Beyond the physical, she is a highly proficient hacker.
11. Yumeko Jabami (Kakegurui)
Yumeko is a compulsive gambler. Yumeko takes glee in gambling and betting as much as possible for the ultimate bliss. Fortunately, she is very good at gambling, and her losses even make her a winner. She can easily read her opponents with her heightened memory and senses, and her gift of psychological warfare seems almost supernatural.
Besides her gambling and ability to read people like a book, Yumeko is very charismatic, with the skill to draw and thrive in the spotlight.
12. Tanya von Degurechaff (The Saga of Tanya the Evil, Yojo Senki)
Let’s discuss the elephant in the room with this one. Tanya is quite the unique one on this list. It’s obvious why she stands out. Compared to Tsunade, Nami, or even Yumeko, she’s clearly different. Tanya is indeed a bit of a psychopath, even worse than Yumeko. She’s also not very heroic. Considering that she’s working for the equivalent of Imperial Germany if World War I had been delayed to the 1920s, her friends don’t come out looking better, either.
Tanya is still a genius, though. She’s an isekai character, having been born in modern-day Japan as a ruthless Japanese salaryman with some unkind opinions of God. She retains her attitude, impeccably strategic mind, and brutal nature, making her a force to be reckoned with on and off the battlefield.
