Santa Claus, whether a cute anime girl or not, came and left. Some good girls made the Nice List and received great gifts. However, not everyone was on their best behavior this year. Indeed, many girls, cute and sexy though they may be, were very bad. These girls made Santa’s Naughty List. And all they received was coal.
1. Esdeath (Akame Ga Kill!)
Esdeath is a powerful, high-ranking general. Very few enemies could stand against her and live to tell the tale. She held even fewer people in somewhat high regard. Esdeath is desperately in love with Tatsumi. For his part, Tatsumi was horrified and angered by her merciless actions. Esdeath earned her spot on the Naughty List due to killing scores of people, and that’s after they beg for death. Alluring though she is, she’s still a villainess.
Takahiro and Tetsuya Tashiro created the original manga series between March 20th, 2010, and December 22nd, 2016. Square Enix published all sixteen volumes in Monthly Gangan Joker.
2. Malty S Melromarc (The Rising of the Shield Hero / Tate no Yusha no Nariagari)
It’s still amazing that such a vile princess came from such a wonderful queen. Malty, later known appropriately as “Bitch,” is the former princess of Melromarc. She practically speedran her way onto the Naughty List. Malty framed Naofumi Iwatani, the legendary Shield Hero, for assaulting her. Queen Mirellia was one of the few people who believed in his innocence. Once her lies were exposed and she was sentenced, Malty began her own quest for revenge that saw more than a few beloved people meet their ends.
While she might not be a royal girl, perhaps the runner-up Best Girl is to your liking. The Raphtalia 1/7 Figure Bikini Armor Ver. from The Rising of the Shield Hero is now available for pre-order.
Aneko Yusagi first released his novel series sometime in 2012. Media Factory obtained the publishing rights and attached the artist Seira Minami to work on the light novels. Since August 22nd, 2013, 22 volumes have been published in the MF Books imprint.
3. Panni (Fatal Fury / Garo Densetsu )
Panni is a loyal servant to Laocorn Gaudeamus. She seems to genuinely love him, and one would hope he actually looks her way due to her loyalty and her wardrobe choices. Laocorn ordered her and her fellow servants to find the Armor of Mars. Mai Shiranui stood in her way, making for an epic waifu battle. This task saw her perfectly willing to harm and manipulate others to carry out his will. These terrible actions, though, made on behalf of love, still earn Panni a spot on the Naughty List.
Takashi Nishiyama created Fatal Fury while working at SNK. The first game was released for the Neo Geo on November 25th, 1991. Panni herself only appeared in Fatal Fury: The Motion Picture, which premiered on July 16th, 1994.
4. Aura (Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End / Soso no Frieren)
Aura is one of the late Demon King’s Seven Sages of Destruction. The atrocities she committed have more than earned her a spot on Santa’s Naughty List. She used her signature magic, Auserlese, to subjugate whole groups of people to her will. Those who showed signs of resistance were summarily executed. Her reign of terror ended when she had a rematch against a girl who got onto Santa’s Nice List.
Kanehito Yamada and Tsukasa Abe released their manga series on April 28th, 2020. Shogakukan has since published twelve volumes in Weekly Shonen Sunday.
5. Aldra (Queen’s Blade)
Aldra has won two Queen’s Blade tournaments and reigned as Queen for quite some time. As the Pope’s daughter and the Devil King’s granddaughter, she wields the power of a half-demon. Aldra ruled with an iron fist, which led to a direct confrontation with Maria Vance, Leina and Elina’s mother. She regularly had her female soldiers prove their loyalty to her “blade,” which led to yuri moments. Her ruthless nature and the lives lost to her conquest earned her a spot on the Naughty List. However, her dark nature was due to demonic influence, and her true form and nature are more mature. Maybe she’ll get on the Nice List next year.
Queen’s Blade first began its sexy tournament as a series of visual combat books published by Hobby Japan.
6. Psykos (One-Punch Man)
Psykos is a powerful psychic, second only to Tatsumaki and Fubuki. Her respect toward Fubuki turned into general misanthropy years ago, which led to her forming the Monster Association. The thicc monster girl, Do-S, is a fan-favorite member. Her proposal to the Supernatural Society that entailed wiping out humanity was a step too far for Fubuki. Psykos decided to do it herself with her new association, which caused much destruction. As such, she’s on Santa’s Naughty List. Her fight with Tatsumaki saw her become a giant figure, which must have been the silver lining the people of a destroyed city needed to see.
One first released his original webcomic sometime in 2009. Shueisha picked up the rights and attached the famed artist Yusuke Murata to illustrate the manga iteration. This run began on June 14th, 2012. There are 29 volumes to be read in the Tonari no Young Jump pages.
7. Neena Hagen (Agent Aika)
Neena works with her brother Rudolf Hagen to carry out world domination plans. The goal is to use Lagu to wipe out humanity. With humanity gone, Rudolf will repopulate the world using his all-female Delmo agents as his romantic partners. Neena, of course, wants to get in on that. Those genocide plans earned Neena her spot on Santa’s Naughty List. We discussed the plot and “Plot” of Agent Aika before and Neena’s habit of walking around in nothing but lingerie. She makes for quite the lovely villainess.
Studio Fantasia released the first entry in the series from April 25th, 1997, to April 25th, 1999. This run consisted of seven episodes and one special.
8. Raynare (High School DxD)
Raynare was Issei’s first key antagonist. Her transformation certainly caught his eye. As a Fallen Angel, Raynare was gifted with abilities from both above and below. She was tasked with eliminating humans who could wield Sacred Gears, a mission she fulfilled numerous times. This earned her a spot on Santa’s Naughty List and Rias’s hit list.
Ichiei Ishibumi and Miyama-Zero worked on the original light novel from September 20th, 2008, to March 20th, 2018. Fujimi Shobo published all 25 volumes and four short stories in Dragon Magazine.
9. Alcyone (Magic Knight Rayearth)
Alcyone is the first primary antagonist to face the Magic Knights. She personally engaged Hikaru, a mighty swordswoman who earned her spot on the Nice List. Alcyone dutifully served Zagato and went so far as to turn against her former teacher, Clef. She abandoned her duties to protect the Pillar to follow her love. However, Zagato had no such feelings for her. The only rewards she received for her betrayal were defeat and a spot on the Naughty List.
Clamp created the original manga series from November 1993 to April 1996. Kodansha released all six volumes in Nakayoshi.
10. Quinella (Sword Art Online)
Yes, Santa takes count of sentient AIs who exist in cyberspace. In pursuit of greater power, Quinella accessed the full breadth of the system she lived in. She unlocked Administrative access within the Cardinal System and granted herself immortality and the almighty power that went with it. Quinella ruled the Empire in the Underworld with an iron fist, which led to no shortage of pain and suffering. She had more than a few lovely swordswomen after her for that. Her pursuit of perfection and godhood saw even the system turn against her. But she was clever enough to evade its consequences. Quinella couldn’t escape Santa’s Naughty List, however.

Reki Kawahara first released her novel series all the way back in 2002. The light novel iteration, with abec providing the illustrations, began its run on April 10th, 2009. ASCII Media Works has since released 27 volumes in the Dengeki Bunko imprint.
Honorable Mention. Ashley “Leyley” Graves (The Coffin of Andy & Leyley)
I think Ashley here has a permanent spot on Santa’s Naughty List. All of that murder and cannibalism adds up. She has a toxic relationship with her brother, Andrew, which provokes her to attack her friends who are interested in him. Ashley killed one and harassed the other to the point where she wanted to die.
Nemlei first released her game on October 23rd, 2023. Kit9 took over the publishing duties at a later date.
