Attending Sakura-Con 2019!

I had the pleasure of attending Sakura-Con 2019 on Easter weekend, which is held every year in Seattle, Washington. Sakura-Con is a three-day event full of anime-themed fun, gaming, and including special guest visits from Japan. This year the head staff of Code Geass Lelouch of the Resurrection movie and series attended, the Japanese voice actor for Emma from The Promised Neverland attended, many English dub voice actors attended, and many more special Japanese guests attended the event. Like other anime convention in the United States, Sakura-Con has been around for quite some time and is still very well attended by many domestically and internationally.

This year instead of attending as an exhibitor or worker, I decided to be an attendee to enjoy the full experience of the convention. Like the majority of anime conventions in the United States, Sakura-Con hosts twenty-four-hour-long video game rooms, game competitions, cosplay competitions, live performance from special guest, panels, and many more anime themed entertainments. Unlike most big anime conventions, it seems to me that Sakura-Con didn’t have much of long lines besides the first-day badge check-in, besides that most areas was line free. I was also able to write a message to the author and staff of the newly adapted Fruit Basket series at the Funimation booth. Which we were told were all being sent over to the Japanese offices once the convention was over.

I also attended the Funimation movie premiere of Code Geass Lelouch of the Resurrection movie and had also met the head staff of the series. The movie will officially premiere in U.S theaters this May 5th. When the movie ended the head staff came back to answer some questions from the Funimation staff, and audience. A question asked by a fellow audience member that caught my attention was, the individual asked if Code Geass will be receiving another anime series after the movie. The director Goro Taniguchi and Producer, Kojiro Taniguchi had stated: “Code Geass is a ten-year long project so this move will not be the end of the Code Geass series.” Still hasn’t confirmed if it’ll be getting another animated series, but we fans can still hope for one!

Another fun thing I was able to do at Sakura-Con was to play the demo of the Kill La Kill the game, which is slated to release on July 25th of this year!
