Historie Puts Eumenes Before Alexander
In the fourth century BCE, Eumenes travels with Aristotle toward Cardia, his hometown. Historie introduces a young man whose knowledge of Greek books complements his sharp observation and steady judgment. Raised as a prominent family’s second son, he attracts adult attention long before anyone offers him a royal job.
An incident in Cardia sends him overseas among strangers. Historie identifies his eventual occupation: Alexander the Great’s secretary. In recorded history, Eumenes served both Philip II and Alexander, but the anime’s setup focuses on his early life. It remains unclear how far this adaptation follows him into Macedonian service. First, survive the road. The empire can wait.

The director, series composition, character design, and music credits remain unannounced. Historie adapts Hitoshi Iwaaki’s manga, which has twelve collected Japanese volumes. From Renaissance Workshops to Viking Battlefields
Learning about Japanese culture draws many fans to anime, but that other culture’s takes on your ancient history are even more intriguing. Historie joins a few recent anime about real places that birthed Western Culture.
Viewers who have enjoyed watching talent challenge social expectations in Arte have another historical world to explore. Historie trades Renaissance workshops for ancient power structures, where knowing more than those around you could be an advantage or an invitation to trouble. But talent confronting social barriers is only part of the appeal.
The stakes rise when political ambition brings war to the doorstep. Fans of Vinland Saga may find the stronger draw in personal growth amid warfare and political upheaval. Famous rulers set history in motion. Living through their decisions is someone else’s problem.
Do you prefer your ancient-Mediterranean anime with a warm soak? Thermae Romae Novae finds its fun in a Roman bath engineer learning from Japanese bathing culture. Historie offers a harsher prospect: observation and adaptability become tools for survival rather than better plumbing. Both premises make an unfamiliar society approachable through one person’s work and curiosity. But Eumenes has worse odds of ending the day in a relaxing hot pool.
Where and When to Watch Historie
Historie begins broadcasting in Japan in January 2027. The exact premiere date and international streaming plans remain unannounced.
Final Maneuver: Historie looks promising for viewers who want a historical adventure led by intelligence rather than a famous king’s reputation. Eumenes must outwit danger before the royal paperwork arrives.
