Not all cat girls are as mysterious as they are lovely. Indeed, some can spend their free time and hard-earned money indulging in a poor habit. Yanineko is a habitual smoker who really doesn’t take her health or hygiene seriously. On the bright side, she’s not exactly shy, and her fellow cat girls are just as cute. We’ll see how she funds her smoking habit and her rent without somehow getting fired or evicted when Chainsmoker Cat (Yani Neko) premieres on July 2nd, 2026.

Chainsmoker Cat Cast
Three of the hard-dealing “divine guardians” are as follows:

- Yaniko Sato / Yanineko — Yuko Natsuyoshi (Cheval Grand from Uma Musume: Pretty Derby). Yanineko is a habitual smoker with a terrible nicotine addiction.
- Masuko Etsushimaru / Yakuneko — Misato Matsuoka (Shuya Shinazugawa from Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba). Yakuneko is Yanineko’s kohai and prefers drugs to cigarettes.
- Yurufuwa Tenshi Hameko / Hameneko — Yurie Funato (Asatent from Interspecies Reviewers). Hameneko is Yanieko’s high school classmate and prefers fighting games to cigarettes.
J.C.Staff maintains a website, a YouTube channel, and a Twitter (X) account to promote Chainsmoker Cat. You can find more information about the series and the key visuals at those sites.

The Chainsmoker Cat Has Friends to Help Her with Her Problems
Humans and beasts live together in relative peace and harmony. People hail these beasts as divine guardians, regardless of how they act. They’re more like humans with animal features than anything, despite the supernatural powers they may have. Our habitual smoker can conjure flames, phenomena she chalks up to her cigarettes hitting the ground. For good or ill, these beings have fully integrated into society, some more successfully than others.

Yanineko spends all of her time and money on cigarettes. She foregoes her own health, well-being, living situation, and job prospects to smoke all day and night. Yanineko might actually be a divine entity with the luck she has in not getting kicked out of her apartment for not paying on time. Her sister tries her best to help out, though Yanineko’s addiction is much too strong. Let’s not count her out yet, though; she’s still a cute cat girl.
