Cultured otaku can rejoice, for we have more clown girls to appreciate! An economic boom during the 1950s led to a rise in Japan’s circus market. Companies put up numerous tents and entertained many crowds. Mizuka Tsurumaki was one of these circus performers. She has skill, but her attitude rubs people the wrong way. She joins the Himawari Circus, a circus with cute girls. Despite their talents and bubbly personalities, circumstances stretch their finances. We’ll see how they fare on the circus circuit when Grow Up Show: Himawari no Circus-dan (Grow Up Show: The Sunflower Circus Troupe) premieres sometime in July 2026.

Welcome, One and All, to the Grow Up Show
An economic boom in the 1950s matched a similar increase in the number of circus tents. People had more money to spend on entertainment, and what could be more entertaining in the 1950s than a circus? These circuses travel around Japan, delighting fans of every age. The most impressive circuses join the prestigious Circus Collection festival. Every circus aims to join, even the cash-strapped circuses.

Himawari Circus is full of spirit and cute girls, and little else. Their funds are on the light side. They come across Mizuka Tsurumaki, a genius at circus acts. Her personality isn’t great, but they still welcome her with open arms. The ringmaster, Maria, welcomes her to the Himawari Circus troupe and sets their sights on joining the Circus Collection festival. They may not have a lot of money, but they have a cute ringmaster, an alluring arial silk girl, and a genius on staff.
Will you set off fireworks when you watch the premiere of Grow Up Show in July? Have you ever been to the circus? Will they get to the Circus Collection festival? Let us know in the comments below.
