People often think about how they might take over the world. Fortunately, stellar visual novels let us live out these fantasies. Eiyu Senki Gold A New Conquest is a turn-based tactics game where players recruit over 70 girls into their army. The goal is simple: recruit girls and conquer territory as you take your rightful throne to rule all that your eyes survey. Why would you do this? What if you have amnesia and cute girls are on the battlefield? Why not take over the world?
Eiyu Senki and the Dawn of a New Conquest
Our amnesiac protagonist awakes on a beach with a cute girl, although it’s not idyllic. The attractive girl in question is the legendary samurai, Date Masamune. She finds him unconscious and barely alive, so she drags him back home. Masamune declares that she is his sister, though she only met him an hour ago. She’s a bit crazy but means well.
The protagonist — whose default name is Chihaya — washed ashore in Sendai, Zipang. The great heroine, Yamato Takeru, has isolated Zipang from the rest of the world. While this preserves the country’s unique culture and heritage, Masamune has set her sights on lands far beyond her home. Chihaya’s appearance has prompted Date to begin her campaign to overthrow Takeru and throw open the doors to the rest of the world. Of course, she would prefer Chihaya to rule as King while she rules over him.
The March of War
Eiyu Senki is a turn-based strategy game. Players can select one of dozens of cities to interact with. From there, players will see a list of missions to complete. Players can only complete two missions per turn, no matter what those missions are. Players expend the units they choose for declaring war on a city, which takes up a turn for this “mission.” Also, players can only deploy units once per turn, so they should carefully consider where and when to use them. Throwing all your units into one round leaves you with nothing for the next if the mission has multiple rounds.
Battles are straightforward: set a unit on the field while accounting for attack range and enemy placement. Even players unfamiliar with turn-based tactics can understand right away. Players can choose “normal,” “hard,” or “very hard” difficulties from the start of the game. Victories result in new units, more troops, and money. An enemy unit will lose its clothes to damage when it falls during specific scenarios. It’s not guaranteed, so it’s an enjoyable surprise when it happens.
Eiyu Senki’s Legendary Heroines
Yes. Eiyu Senki has swapped genders for historical figures to turn them into cute anime girls. However, the cultured artist Ashito Oyari has taken a step further than even the geniuses at Type-Moon. Characters such as Lu Bu, Geronimo, Kamehameha, Sun Tzu, Napoleon, Marco Polo, and Columbus are all anime girls of various types. Some have bigger chests and broader hips than others, but most wear revealing clothes. Chihaya can get romantic with his new allies at particular points. Lewd scenes are opened up for cultured gamers to enjoy. Players can enjoy them all as much as they want during New Game Plus runs.
The background scenes don’t have as much to enjoy as we see in Raidy. The brief snippets of the setting are beautiful views, but they’re not as prominent as in Raidy. Well, these short clips show locations from around the globe, so it’s completely fine. Yes, we’re going for a global waifu harem. Get conquering my friends.
The Sounds of War
Eiyu Senki has full voice acting. The actresses bring their various characters to life whenever they appear. The only exception is Chihaya, the protagonist. Silent protagonists are regular occurrences, so there’s no real problem here. The sound effects from the menu to the battles are equally high quality. The music at work is exceptional. The BGMs are a delight to hear, and the opening movie made it seem like an anime adaptation might have been forthcoming. Yes. A fully animated opening movie rapidly introduces the waifus while music plays.
Conclusion
Eiyu Senki Gold A New Conquest is a fun visual novel that anyone can get into. The turn-based strategy aspects might put people off. But the gameplay is simple enough that anyone can conquer the world. It’s such a fun aspect of the game that it’s as appealing as the lewd content.
There are a staggering amount of historical beauties to recruit in this game. Everyone is a waifu waiting for romance. As I said, they took it even further than the Fate series. Their stories are enjoyable to experience. Visual novels with actual depth are always a joy to play through. It’s nice to find cute girls doing lewd things, but the journey to that destination should be just as fun. It’s here that Eiyu Senki truly shines.
