True love can break through even a language barrier. This is especially true when one party knows there isn’t one. Alya Sometimes Hides Her Feelings in Russian (Tokidoki Bosotto Russia-go de Dereru Tonari no Alya-san / Roshidere) follows a girl as she confesses her feelings in Russian to a guy who, unbeknownst to her, speaks Russian. SunSunSun posted the original Alya Sometimes Hides Her Feelings in Russian novel on the user-generated website, Shosetsuka ni Naro, between May 6th, 2020, and May 27th, 2020. Kadokawa Shoten obtained the publishing rights and hired the artist Momoco to adapt the series to a light novel format. This new run began on February 27th, 2021, with eight volumes currently published in the Kadokawa Sneaker Bunko imprint.

- Alisa Mikhailovna Kujou / Alya — Sumire Uesaka (Hayase Nagatoro from Don’t Toy with Me, Miss Nagatoro). The “cool beauty” was born to a Russian father and a Japanese mother. She is known as the Solitary Princess of Seirei Academy.
- Masachika Kuze — Kohei Amasaki (Fohl from The Rising of the Shield Hero). Alya’s slacker seat neighbor whose grandfather loved Russian media. As such, he can perfectly understand Alya’s remarks.

Alya Sometimes Hides Her Feelings in Russian, but Not as Well as She Thinks
“A cool beauty” of mixed heritage and her slacker seatmate find love in Alya Sometimes Hides Her Feelings in Russian. Alisa Mikhailovna Kujou, also known as Alya, is the school idol. Everyone admires her, but few can get close to the Solitary Princess. Alisa all but rules Seirei Academy with her good looks and her academic gifts. The only outlier in her life is her seatmate, the boy with the enviable position of the one who gets to sit next to Alisa during class.
Masachika Kuze is a laid-back student who sleeps in class. He refers to Alisa by her nickname, Alya, even when she abruptly wakes him moments before the teacher begins their lessons. Alisa is known for speaking her true feelings in Russian, a language no one around her should know. After berating Masachika for being slovenly, she’ll praise his good looks and call him cute in her father’s native language. Unfortunately for her, Masachika’s grandfather loved Russian media and had him watch television in Russian since he was little. As such, Masachika is fluent in Russian.
