All the world is watching the sad events unfolding in Ukraine, as Russia brings the full brunt of its military against its neighbor. One thing I’ve learned about the modern connected world we live in is, world events are often reflected in fanart on the Internet, be it on Pixiv or Twitter or Deviant Art. When Japan experienced the sad 2011 Tohoku earthquake and tsunami, artists inside Japan and around the world showed their support by creating art. The same thing has happened during the new conflict in Ukraine, and here’s a blog post with the best related fan art I could find!

Twitter user @luobiteluo1 makes a statement with some gorgeous fan art entitled Ukrainian Armed Forces “Each of Us.”
Japanese artist and military otaku @zephyr164 made some beautiful art to show his support.
Pixiv artist Hiyokomi is a Girls’ Frontline fan, and brought his skills to bear to create this piece of fan art.
A Japanese artist chimed in on the ongoing conflict with this piece of art. Very nice.
Another military otaku artist is ZAP-NIK, who draws “military moe” art.
We like this art by Maridjan, with really gorgeous lines and coloring, showing a Ukraine soldier.

Military video games set in possible futures have become a unique if terrifying way to think about how the rest of the 21st century will play out, and one such title was S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: The Shadow of Chernobyl. This is fanart related to that game.
