It’s been quite a while since we last heard from the production crew of the upcoming Yuri!!! On Ice movie titled Ice Adolescence. Finally, though, we have something that resembles an update from the crew.
NEWS: Yuri on Ice the Movie: ICE ADOLESCENCE has received a status update via the official website!
It says the movie's production is still ongoing, but it's still not at a stage where it can get a release date.

Yes, you’re reading that correctly. According to an update posted on the official website, the movie is definitely going to happen. The big “however” though is that they still don’t know when it will be released, which is frankly kind of a bummer. At least we got a brand new key visual to tide us over until the next update.
Here’s the problem I’m having with this movie. On one hand, I totally respect the production staff for wanting to make sure that this movie is as good as they can make it before it gets released. After the television series took off like a rocket in 2016, the staff have a lot of high expectations to meet from fans. That means that they have every right to delay the movie’s release until it’s something that they can be proud of.
That being said, there’s something to be said about punctuality. We’ve already passed the five-year anniversary of this series and are fast approaching the ten-year mark. Fans absolutely loved this series a few years ago, but will they stick around long enough for the staff to finally release the movie that many people have either forgotten about or long since given up on ever seeing? That’s the looming question I have regarding this movie.
Don’t get me wrong, I will absolutely wait however long I have to in order to finally watch a young Victor Nikiforov working his way up the ranks to superstardom. I can’t say the same is true for everyone else though and I worry that the staff’s pursuit of perfection will lead to them missing the window for anyone still caring.
