My Hero Academia Manga Could End Within A Year

Earlier in 2021, it was widely reported that the hit shonen manga series My Hero Academia had entered its “final act”. What no one could report on at the time, however, was how long that “final act” was going to last. Well, according to Kohei Horikoshi, the author of the series, it could all be over within a year… if things progress smoothly.

My Hero Academia 02

In a statement read out at last weekend’s Jump Festa event, Horikoshi stated, “If things progress smoothly, the original My Hero Academia will reach its goal, for instance, in just about a year.” The statement was also quick to say that if things don’t go smoothly (as things are wont to do), Horikoshi would just have Deku’s voice actor read the same statement at next year’s event.

While I really want to say that this is a shocking development, I’m actually rather glad to hear that Horikoshi already has a soft timeline for his series to end. When it was announced that the series had entered its closing act, I know I feared just how long it was going to take to get through the final act since the series had already been running since 2014. It seems that Horikoshi was one step ahead of us all this time and had no intention of belaboring his point in the closing chapters of the series.

While I haven’t been a super faithful reader or viewer of My Hero Academia over the years, I did peek in earlier this year and can’t wait to see the anime series catch up with what is coming down the road. If you’re an “anime-only” fan of My Hero Academia, it’s best to get comfortable now because there is some darkness looming in the background that you’re not going to want to miss!
