Ganbare Doukichan, Episode 10: Poolside Story

Episode 10 – “A Coworker Who’s Excited About a Poolside Date”

Hmm.

The artist Yom is famous for drawing pantyhose, which is why Ganbare Doukichan was a perfect fit. But what happens when the tights-wearing office ladies go to a resort hotel pool and wear tight swimsuits instead? That’s what we find out in the much-appreciated pool episode! The lovely depictions of beautiful girls wearing hose are charming. But they owe much of their charm to the curves that fill out those translucent films of fabric. The poolside setting lets us see those shapely legs and body parts in a different light. Thankfully, Doukichan provided the audience with a long, lingering look at her shiny thighs and calves. No wonder Doukikun had trouble catching his breath!

While we root for Doukichan to become more assertive as Ganbare Doukichan progresses, we also need to remember that Doukikun contributes to half of their relationship frustrations. Who waits until the evening to text the compliment he should have made to the girl fishing for that compliment? Doukikun does! Senpai-san and Kouhaichan describe the age-level of their flirting as belonging in junior high. They are correct. Can you imagine how hard Doukichan would hit Doukikun with a beach ball if he ever held her hand? He’d need to wait until the morning to compliment her soft skin…

As Ganbare Doukichan nears the end of the season, it appears that both Senpai-san and Kouhaichan have given up on getting in between Doukichan and Doukikun. They’re not helping them get together, but they’re also not standing in their way. Still, they can have fun watching over them and provoking cute, jealous reactions out of Doukichan. Making Doukikun flustered is also fun for the gorgeous, busty ladies. Using their sex appeal makes great fanservice scenes for the audience, so we thank them for their, uh, service.

Heh.

Yes. Yes! It’s the Ganbare Doukichan pool episode! Even grownups in anime get free tickets to a pool. Although, I doubt the “Hylatt” resort will have water slides and wave machines. Also, Senpai-san’s wry smile hints that Doukichan’s “pool date” will have unexpected interruptions.

Ooh. Cute! Doukichan’s blue bikini made Doukikun’s heart skip. That guy likes that girl way too much. He has breath enough to keep blowing up a beach ball but not enough to blow some complimentary words in Doukichan’s direction.

Disaster! Senpai-san and Kouhaichan join the timid couple at the pool. Their presence is not a disaster for the Ganbare Doukichan viewers! Wowsers. Senpai-san will have an exotic tan line if she doesn’t manage her sunscreen correctly.

Oh. Senpai-san is such an adult. Senpai-san invited the Sync Agency coworkers to her hotel’s pool because none of her own colleagues could join her. We know she wanted to watch Doukichan squirm. Two of these things are not like the other four…

Huh. Senpai-san and Kouhaichan considerately allow Doukichan and Doukikun to flirt like teenagers. Doukikun deserved that beach ball to the face. You can’t just gawk at a young lady’s body like that. At least smile, flash a thumbs up, or do something else.

Ganbare Doukichan epilogue time. Doukichan with tan lines! Oh, finally. That timid Doukikun texted Doukichan his compliment on her bikini. Well, it’s better than nothing. Doukichan can celebrate that sweet nothing with her cat and a beer.

Kiseki Himura, the creator of Tawawa on Monday, reciprocated Yom’s end card for his show. Kouhaichan at the beach is much more forward. I would love to see an OVA of their OL crossover series.
