Normally I would open this article with a funny little quip about needing to sound the new anime adaptation announcement alarm, but GA Bunko kind of broke it over this past weekend.
In the first of several announcements made during the GA Bunko live stream, it was revealed that the light novel series My Friend’s Little Sister Has It In for Me! (Tomodachi no Imōto ga Ore ni Dake Uzai) will be getting a television anime adaptation at some point in the future. By the way, that sentence you just read? Get used to hearing it a lot this week. The announcement came with a short 30-second promotional video which revealed that the drama CD cast will return to reprise their roles.

The voice cast will be filled out as follows (character names first):
Akiteru Ooboshi: Haruki Ishiya

Originally a light novel series written by MikawaGhost and illustrated by Tomari, My Friend’s Little Sister Has It In for Me! began serialization on the GA Bunko imprint in April 2019. It has six volumes released in Japan as of December 2020. The series is being released in English starting in February 2021 by J-Novel Club who describes the story as:
If a girl teases you, that means she likes you! Unfortunately, Akiteru knows from experience that isn’t the case. Because every girl he interacts with shows him nothing but scorn, and he’s not scored a single date from it! Luckily, he’s more concerned with securing a spot for him and his game-development buddies at his uncle’s business. But when his uncle throws him a condition that involves playing the part of his daughter’s boyfriend, Akiteru has no choice but to take it. What will his best friend’s sister Iroha, who bullies him relentlessly, think of the news?
Unfortunately, no further details were revealed about the upcoming anime adaptation such as crew or production studio.
To be blunt though, I’m honestly just thrilled that this isn’t an isekai series (oh trust me, we’ll get to those soon enough) in any way, shape, or form. It’s just a straight romantic comedy and, while I do enjoy isekai series, sometimes you just want something a little different. This sounds like it could be exactly what I’m craving.
