Custom Order Maid 3D2: It’s a Magic Night is the ultimate in meido simulator sex-service action. You will build your own Empire Club with your own two hands, one maid at a time, until the profits are rolling in, and the maids are experts at sexual congress. There’s also dancing. The maids decide your club needs a gimmick, and settle on becoming music idol maids. Don’t suggest they’re just doing it because they want to be idols either, you’ll hurt their feelings.
Custom Order Maid 3D2 takes customization to an insane level. The whole game involves customizing. Customize a work schedule for your maids. Customize your Empire Club’s facilities. Customize your room. Maid skills. Your office. Maid appearances. You can even customize your appearance despite the fact you are just represented by a monochromatic silhouette during sex scenes — a silhouette you can make more or less opaque during scenes.
The maid customization particularly stands out. Clothing, skin, height, all sizes, everything is fair game for customization. Accessories include the expected, like headbands, to demon tails and idiot-hair.
Custom Order Maid 3D2 is a simulator and management game. If Super Naughty Maid 2 was a curated sex simulator, Custom Order Maid 3D2 is open world. During scenes you have to play with stats all the time. A maid’s mental state gives you your action points, run out and you have to move to the next position, or finish the scene. Arousal revolves around climaxing — raise it to unlock the climax options, which then lowers it — and sensuality unlocks options during sex acts. Sex acts are unlocked as you raise various stats the maids have, and as you level up the acts you currently have access to by using them.
While largely a simulator, Custom Order Maid 3D2 does have a story. Key to that are your first three maids, who will end up making an idol group. You make the first three maids with different personalities, each one with three -dere personalities that affect their complete attitude towards you, their work, and their ability as an idol. Since these first three maids are key, I suggest designing them with great care. While you can hire more maids to broaden your affections, the main events of the game only happen with your first three maids.
The main story revolves around your uncle leaving you a club that’s deep in debt. Your first maid suggests maid-idols as a gimmick for the club to stand out and make money. Your three main maids get a series of little scenes that build the protagonist’s relationship with them, like sharing a cup of coffee. Ultimately these build up to events including NTR, dates, being lovers with specific maids, and wacky comedy. Maids who ask to be hired are sometimes involved in these events. There are quite a lot of events built into the game, but getting to them takes a long time, and involves a lot of repetitive yotogi (the game’s name for nightly sex training).
And that’s the main weakness of the game. While the unlocks keep coming at a good rate, and the scenes are playful and fun, it can be boring to play for large stretches. Sex training feels like training, requiring you to build stats and XP. Since the game is complex though, leaving it aside for more than a day or three means forgetting system nuances. People who love unlocking stuff, meeting new small milestones, and don’t mind some grind to do it, will enjoy this game a lot. There are tons of things for them to do. The management content of the club is pretty deep.
The animations of this game are high-quality, and the anime style of the maids is spot on. The actual areas you can hang out in are very generic, but since they’re also heavily customizable you can just change them as much as you like when you’re bored of looking at the same potted plant. The UI is extremely basic, and has some mediocre translation elements in my older version of the game, but it’s pretty navigable. If you’re not huge into the –dere scene, or this is your first maid-based game, Custom Order Maid 3D2 conveniently provides a glossary of terms.
The music is good. Catchy and upbeat, it reminds me of HuniePop. The anime voices are also good, expressing hesitance, coldness, and the occasional bit of –dere warmth.
The maid dancing is done through a mini-game. You have the option of just watching if you activate a dance from the menu, but as far as I can tell you have to play the game when you’re doing an idol performance for story reasons. The biggest payoff of the dancing is playing dress-up with the maids, and then getting to see them perform.
You can get Custom Order Maid 3D2 from Nutaku here. There is an all-ages version on Steam which can be upgraded to the adult version with a non-free patch some people have reportedly struggled to access. There is also DLC available, but not directly from Steam.
