A tale of witches and demons is unfolding. The Witch and the Beast (Majo to Yaju) follows an unlikely duo — a feral girl dealing with a curse and a stoic man who wields magic and carries a coffin. This odd couple’s story is available to stream right now on Crunchyroll. Those interested can check out the trailer, the textless opening theme, or sokoninaru’s “Soumonka” music video.

Kousuke Satake first released his The Witch and the Beast manga series on November 6th, 2016. Kodansha has since released ten volumes in Young Magazine the 3rd and Monthly Young Magazine.

Our magical duo and their first opponent are as follows:

  • Guideau — Yo Taichi (Suphia from That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime). A feral girl who works with The Order of Magical Resonance. She searches for the witch who cursed her.
  • Ashaf — Toshiyuki Morikawa (Isshin Kurosaki from Bleach). A stoic agent for The Order of Magical Resonance. He is a powerful mage who works with Guideau to solve cases while searching for the witch who cursed her.
  • Ione — Yoko Hikasa (Weiss Schnee from RWBY: Ice Queendom). The heroic witch of Sanguine Lotus. She protects people from monsters while harboring dangerous secrets.

To promote The Witch and the Beast, the studio has maintained a home page in addition to English and Japanese Twitter (X) pages. You can find additional series information and Key Visuals there.

The Witch and the Beast Begin Their Hunt

A wise man once said, “Magic must defeat magic.” This remains true even today. The Witch and the Beast follows two highly skilled, although mismatched, agents from The Order of Magical Resonance. Guideau is a fierce girl who seeks the witch who cursed her years ago. She’s strong and reckless, but she gets the job done. Ashaf is her infinitely patient partner. He’s a skilled and powerful mage who carries a coffin on his back. Contrary to her fiery demeanor, Ashaf is soft-spoken and calm. Opposites though they are, Guideau and Ashaf make an impeccable team.

Their first case of the series takes them to the city of Sanguine Lotus. This quaint location is home to monster attacks and the heroic witch Ione who combats them. Something seems off about the entire thing, so the Order has tasked our duo with looking to Ione. The city seems to love her, but there’s no telling what secrets this heroic witch might be hiding.

Are you currently watching The Witch and the Beast? Have you read the manga series ahead of time? Is Guideau Best Girl/Waifu material? Let us know in the comments below.
