The New Samurai Legend Yaiba Faces the Gods

A wild samurai boy and his father return after training in the mountains. The samurai stays with a cute girl and her family. What should be a calm and relaxing time leads to wooden swords clashing at her school. A battle between lightning and wind gods unfolds in modern-day Japan. Samurai Legend Yaiba (Shin Samurai-den Yaiba) will premiere sometime in April 2025, and we’ll see who remains standing.

Gosho Aoyama (Detective Conan) released the original Samurai Legend Yaiba manga series between September 7th, 1988, and December 1st, 1993. Shogakukan published all 24 volumes in Weekly Shonen Sunday. Pastel’s anime adaptation premiered on April 9th, 1993.

The samurai boy, his new friend, and a legendary samurai are as follows:

Yaiba Kurogane — Minami Takayama (Kati Mannequin from Mobile Suit Gundam 00). A wild samurai boy who enjoys fighting.
Sayaka Mine — Manaka Iwami (Linie from Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End). An ordinary high school student shares a destiny with Yaiba.
Musashi Miyamoto — Junichi Suwabe (Ryomen Sukuna from Jujutsu Kaisen). The legendary immortal samurai protected the Thunder God Sword for centuries.

Samurai Legend Yaiba Fights Among Gods

Yaiba Kurogane and his father, Kenjuro, have spent years honing their skills in the jungle. An unfortunate encounter with a group of gorillas forces them to flee on a tiger’s back. They took refuge in a crate to hide from the gorillas. Workers soon filled that crate with pineapples, and it took them on a ride to Japan. There, Kenjuro ran into his old rival Raizo Mine and his daughter Sayaka.

The group evades the police and takes refuge at the Mine estate. Yaiba defeats the strongest student at the dojo and proves his strength to the Mine family. It was just the first battle that would test his mettle. Soon, the gods themselves would become involved with Yaiba and his rivals. He would wield the power of lightning, and his foe would wield the power of wind.
