Everyone’s favorite sadistic villainess is back! Takeshobo’s Storia Dash’s X account announced that Akihiro Ononaka’s Gushing Over Magical Girls manga will resume its serialization on October 17. The raunchy mahou shoujo manga had suspended its publication since March 2024 due to Ononaka-sensei’s failing health. The resumption of the Mahou Shoujo ni Akogarete manga will start with the 59th volume on the Takeshobo’s Takecomi website.
Gushing Over Magical Girls Manga Details
Takeshobo’s Manga Life Storia began publishing Ononaka-sensei’s manga in 2019. Following the closure of Manga Life Storia, Takeshobo moved the Maho Ako manga to the Storia Dash website. The publisher has released 11 tankobon volumes of the Gushing Over Magical Girls manga. Coolmic also licenses the Maho Ako manga under the name “I Admire Magical Girls, And...,” and the manga’s first chapter is available for free. J-Novel Club releases the digital and print versions of the manga in the US.
An anime adaptation by Asahi Productions aired during the 2024 winter anime season. Masato Suzuki and Atsushi Ootsuki directed the Gushing Over Magical Girls anime. Yasunori Yamauchi wrote the anime’s script, while Yasuka Otakil is credited with the show’s character designs.
A second season of Gushing Over Magical Girls is in production.
Maho Ako Details
Utena Hiiragi loves magical girls more than anything else in her life. Her days are spent collecting mahou shoujo merch, talking about magical girls, and fantasizing over her town’s magical trio, the Tres Magia. To Utena’s surprise, one day a magical mascot appears before her and allows her to become a magical girl! But when she transforms, instead of becoming a paradigm of justice, she becomes a scantily clad evil dominatrix! And now, she has to battle the magical girls she always looked up to!
While initially hesitant, when Utena realizes that her newfound powers are strong enough to subdue and torment mahou shoujo, she quickly adapts to her new role. And with that, Utena, now dubbed Magia Baiser, comes to know the joys of subjugating mahou shoujos!
