An average Japanese salaryman goes to his local baseball park to unwind after many hours of grueling work. The new beer vendor catches his attention with her strong salesmanship and cute allure. They bond over a beer, and she cheers for him as the baseball fans cheer for the players on the field. We’ll see how the salaryman ups his game when The Catcher in the Ballpark! (Ballpark de Tsukamaete!) premieres sometime in 2025.
Tatsuro Suga released the original The Catcher in the Ballpark! manga series on September 3rd, 2020. Kodansha has since published fifteen volumes in Morning.
The office worker and the beer vendor are as follows:
- Kotaro Murata — Satoshi Inomata (Tsukasa from Persona 5). An overworked office employee with a love of baseball.
- Ruriko — Fairouz Ai (Power from Chainsaw Man). A pure-hearted gyaru beer vendor.
EMT Squared maintains a home page and a Twitter (X) page to promote The Catcher in the Ballpark!. You can find more information about the series and the key visuals there. A gyaru is always a good catch. Especially if she comes bearing beer.

Kotaro Murata is an overworked and underappreciated office worker. He’s a competent employee but needs a break. Kotaro finds peace and solace at the Motorsuns Stadium to watch baseball games. But meeting the new beer vendor girl, a gyaru named Ruriko, upends his routine. She pours him a beer and starts teasing him to no end.
Ruriko is a hard-working vendor who strives to get regular customers. Kotaro praises her sales pitch but criticized the first cup of beer she gave him: it was mostly foam. He still ordered a second cup after she cheered him on a bit. Their next meeting saw Kotaro become her first regular customer. As much as she teases him to his face, she’s still a pure, naive girl who blushes when alone.
