Arguably one of the most underrated anime series of the previous decade is Space Brothers. Originally a manga which launched in Weekly Morning magazine in December 2007, the series received a 99-episode anime adaptation starting in 2012 and a prequel movie in August 2014. That’s where the streaming site HIDIVE comes in.
In an announcement posted to their official blog on Monday, May 4th, they revealed that the prequel movie titled Space Brothers #0 will start streaming on their site from Monday, May 18th! Not only that, but fans of the franchise are getting two versions of the movie; the theatrical version, and the Chuya Koyama Special Edition cut.
HIDIVE describes the story of the movie as:
Set four years before the events of the Space Brothers TV series, Space Brothers #0 tells the story of two brothers on disparate paths. Hibito Namba is a rookie astronaut in training while his brother, Mutta, has found his own ambitions at a disappointing standstill. When Hibito is selected to train for a coveted NASA space mission, it sets in motion a series of events that takes the brothers to the crossroads of destiny and dreams.
HIDIVE also revealed that the movie will be available in the following territories:
