Subaru continues to be one of the more unfortunate cheat-level isekai protagonists. He defended his waifu against an evil order, but his victory had a cost. Subaru walks shoulder to shoulder with Emilia and the others to a mysterious tower that can ease the victims’ suffering. Most importantly, Best Girl Rem needs help, and they must stop at nothing to save her. We’ll see how they fare when Re:Zero Starting Life in Another World Season 4 premieres sometime in April 2026.
Tappei Nagatsuki and Shin’ichiro Otsuka released the original Re:Zero Starting Life in Another World light novel on January 24th, 2014. Media Factory has published 42 volumes and six side stories in the MF Bunko J imprint. Studio White Fox’s anime adaptation premiered on April 4th, 2016.

The unfortunate isekai protagonist and two of his cute friends are as follows:
- Subaru Natsuki — Yusuke Kobayashi (Dino from That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime). Subaru is a reclusive Japanese guy summoned from another world. His gift and curse allow him to avoid death.
- Emilia — Rie Takahashi (Pepper from Urusei Yatsura). Emilia is a half-elf girl and one of the candidates to become the next King of Lugunica.
- Ram — Murakawa Rie (Najimi Osana from Komi Can’t Communicate). Ram is Rem’s older twin sister and Margrave Roswaal L. Mathers’s maid.

Re:Zero Starting Life in Another World and Facing Death Over and Over
Subaru Natsuki was once just an ordinary person from Japan. He grew up feeling proud of his hard-working and beloved father. Eventually, his efforts to meet his own expectations as that man’s son wore him down. Subaru retreated within himself and became a recluse. His time of self-doubt abruptly ended when another world summoned and granted him a most useful and most painful ability.
Subaru’s new death-defying gift would serve him well as he traveled with the half-elven princess Emilia and the cute maid Rem. Their recent travels have taken them to the Watergate City of Priestella to crown the new ruler. Emilia is just one candidate to take the throne of the Kingdom of Lugunica. The Sin Archbishops of the Witch Cult interrupt their not-so-fun royal campaign. Their reign of chaos ended, but their victims still need saving. So it is that Subaru and the others now travel to the Pleiades Watchtower.
