While I would love to show up today with the news that That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime is getting a third television season, that’s not happening (yet). Instead, let’s talk more about the upcoming original movie that will premiere in Japanese theaters on November 25th. You might recall Crunchyroll recently revealing their own plans to release the movie globally.
In the meantime, let’s recap what we know about the upcoming movie titled That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime: Scarlet Bonds.
Drafted by the light novel series author, Fuse, the story for this movie will be entirely original to the anime, with new characters. According to reports, the story will feature Rimuru and his crew traveling to the country of Raja. While there, Rimuru and his friends will become wrapped up in a mystery involving a young woman with some kind of supernatural power. Meanwhile, Benimaru will run into an ogre survivor who used to respect him but may feel differently now that they are, once again, face to face.
Unfortunately, the staff behind this one is mostly being kept secret at the moment. We know that studio 8bit will produce the animation and that all the cast members will return to reprise their roles. Other than that, however, we find ourselves at a bit of a loss regarding the information on who will bring this movie to life.
That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime has been a mainstay in the shonen anime scene for the last four years (even longer if you want to go back to its humble light novel roots on the popular Shōsetsuka ni Narō site). Luckily for fans, it doesn’t appear to be going anywhere as just last year we got nine consecutive months of slime isekai.
