While they aren’t a massive hit in English speaking countries, otome dating simulation games are a massive draw in China and Japan. We may associate dating sims with the visual of greasy otaku boys desperately attempting to woo virtual idol girls, but the inverse visual is just as prevalent. Of the countless dating simulation games about courting impossibly handsome young men via the comfort of your smartphone, one of the biggest hits is Chinese “super-powered dating simulation game”  Koi to Producer: EVOLxLOVE. Developed by Papergames and launched on December 20th, 2017, the stylish dating sim has already gotten over 90 million downloads on iOS and Android across multiple regions. Now, the successful dating sim is being graced with an anime adaptation titled Mr Love: Queen’s Choice, and it’s set to debut on July 15th.

The anime adaptation of Mr Love: Queen’s Choice is being produced by animation studio MAPPA, previously responsible for series like Dorohedoro, Yuri!! on ice, Banana Fish, and Zombieland Saga. MAPPA is also producing the upcoming final season of Attack on Titan. The upcoming otome anime will be directed by Minehisa Sakai, who previously worked on Pretty Guardian Sailor Moon Crystal, Zombie Land Saga, and One Piece. Character designs are being done by Jinshichi Yamaguchi, an artist with previous credits on Oshiete Mahō no Pendulum: Rilu Rilu Fairilu. Kiyoko Yoshimura, who was on staff for series like Last Exile -Fam, The Silver Wing-, Riddle Story of Devil, and Garo -Vanishing Line-, will be in charge of series scripts. Additionally, Emoto Entertainment is credited as a producer on the anime.

The Japanese voice actors from the original phone game will be reprising their roles for the Mr Love: Queen’s Choice anime, including the following actors and characters:

  • Tomokazu Sugita as Zen (Victor in English)
  • Tetsuya Kakihara as Kira (Kiro)
  • Yuuki Ono as Haku (Gavin)
  • Daisuke Hirakawa as Simon (Lucien)

Additionally, the official website for the Mr Love: Queen’s Choice anime revealed info on the theme song artists for the series. The opening theme song, “Nibiiro no Yoake” (Dark Gray Dawn), will be performed by Yutaro Miura. Konomi Suzuki, meanwhile, will be performing the ending theme song “Maioritekita Yuki” (Snow That Flies Down).
