With the worldwide pandemic putting a hold on so many big-budget Hollywood productions, it’s become a rare treat when we’re able to report on something new and exciting. In this case, we have six new cast members from the live-action adaptation of Cowboy Bebop, which will eventually premiere on Netflix.
As previously reported, we already know who the lead roles will be filled by (character names first):
Spike Spiegel: John Cho
Jet Black: Mustafa Shakir
Faye Valentine: Daniella Pineda
Vicious: Alex Hassell
Julia: Elena Satine
We can now report that the following roles will be filled thusly:
Chalmers: Geoff Stults
Ana: Tamara Tunie
Gren: Mason Alexander Park
Mao: Rachel House
Shin: Ann Truong
Lin: Hoa Xuande
A seminal classic in the eyes of many anime fans around the world, this live-action production has been a long time coming. I remember first reporting on this project back when Keanu Reeves was attached to it and it was supposed to be a massive budget movie. That was then, and this is now though. In the here and now, Netflix has teamed up with Tomorrow Studios (who are also attached to a live-action One Piece adaptation, which will also premiere on Netflix) to bring this anime to real life.
Constantly held up as an anime worthy of being in the top ten of all time, this new adaptation is going to be one of the most anticipated yet highly scrutinized anime to live-action adaptations ever created. I can only hope that the crew attached to this series show Cowboy Bebop the same amount of love and respect as its fans around the world do.
